I have been working for my current company for almost exactly a year as an Office Manager. My boss likes me says I'm a nice person and good team member. But today, they had to address some concerns and write up a corrective action form. Stating that I am missing details and a few other things. Like most people I have made mistakes and I have owned up to them. Most of my duties I've been doing have not been Office Manager duties because “I don't fully trust you”.
I show up on time everyday (even early) I stay late and work off the clock occasionally when necessary. I have asked for more responsibilities as a way to prove myself and my success.
Unfortunately though, I have come to the point where I just want to move on and move on quickly. I have 1 year away from completing my masters program in the same field I already currently work.
How do I go about applying for new positions knowing full well my most applicable job experience (my current job) I may not be able to use as a reference.
I guess I'm just feeling down and looking for advice as to how to move on knowing I would either have to not list them as a reference (which seems like a red flag) or risk giving my managers name with a high chance it won't be a stellar review.
