This was raised to me yesterday after requesting a shift pattern to allow one earlier finish of one day per week. I've been waiting 5 weeks since accepting offer for a contract and final confirmation of job. So right now, I have no known buisness hours etc. I thought we were in the open dialogue phase of a job acceptance where shift pattern, working days are discussed, because my employment checks and offer are still pending on there side.
-It was rejected due to buisness need, and suggested that me being offered job part-time was them already being flexible. My new employer called my recruiter to raise issues about my commitment to job.
-i was put forward by my recruiter as a part-time candidate as I never suggested I could work full-time from day one.
-
Ive agreed to meet with a new colleague to suit their travel plans before my contract starts while serving notice from other job
-
I've agreed to do mandatory health screen which was supposed to be done pre-start date after starting because it's causing delays.

Ive sat for 5 weeks without a job offer and haven't applied anywhere else (was not actively looking when job came up) but I'm still being suggested that I'm not committing.
During the interview stages, it was raised twice that due to my contractor background, would there be issues with me committing to the role. This response has made it clear I'm going to spend the rest of my time at this place “proving” my commitment, but I have not even signed a contract yet and my offer is still pending references.
I wasted 3 hours yesterday sending emails back and worth, lengthy calls with recruiter to do damage control for a job I don't even have a contract with. I know in a couple of hours they'll be calling again. It's impacting my current work, as I'm expecting to turn around emails and phone calls within an 1 hour to pacify these issues. I've been previously chased to complete documents even when I've been on holiday (which I refused).
What should be my approach here? Any advice?
