Ok this is a bit of a rant. So I work in the mental healthcare field. I am included in various group text chats, Google chats, email threads etc. I am constantly getting messages and whatnot from work, including my off time. I have muted all of my chats during off time, which has annoyed management. Recently got an email saying I needed to sign some OJT paperwork, for a job I've had for a year and a half. I've signed this paperwork 6 times now. (I work with different individuals so I need an OJT for each house) But several houses I have signed the paperwork several times and they keep losing it.
This upset me because they said I have to come in on my off time to sign it, even though they keep losing it. I'm not really upset, and it won't take much time at all to do it, like 15 minutes, but I feel as though my time is not being respected. I called HR to see if I could get paid for that time since they keep losing the paperwork and I was annoyed. They refused to answer. I asked them if it was legal for me to do work off of the clock and they literally refused to answer. I eventually got a supervisor, who only reiterated that they wouldn't answer the question and didn't want to argue about it. I asked my supervisor if they could bring me the papers at work. They said no. I asked if they could email it to me. They said no. I have to come in on my own time. It's ludicrous.
The main point here is that HR is not on our side. It is presented as such, but they are nothing but a shield for the company. I could have resolved the issue in three seconds by just saying to clock in when I get there, and I asked them if I could and they gave me the runaround. Our time away from work needs to be respected. I see gradual change coming, so I'm hopeful for the future, but man is this system broken.
End rant/ thanks for listening!
