Not me crying because a DoorDash customer gave me a huge tip this morning.

I had a $100+ door dash order for Chick-Fil-A this morning. It's wet, rainy, windy as hell. I'm only door dashing to get any extra income (my ex still hasn't paid June's child support and at this point, I need whatever income I can get) and tomorrow I have an interview to be a waitress at a Cracker Barrel so I am really crossing every finger and toe that I get this job…especially after seeing another user post about how well they're doing by being a waitress. I ended up delivering the person's food but they had marked the option “hand it to me” instead of leaving it at their door. I ended up delivering the person's food but they had marked the option “hand it to me” instead of leaving it at their door. My kid was in the car, I'm getting soaked trying to shield this person's food. They open the door, take the food, I turn around to run back to my car and they go “Hey wait!” so I turn around and they straight up palmed me a $50 bill. On top of the $10 they pre-tipped on door dash.

I just kind of stood there like a dummy and awkwardly said thank you and ran back to my car. It took me a minute to even realize what the hell had happened because I wasn't expecting it at all. I ended up messaging the customer on door dash again to thank them profusely because this extra tip means I'll have enough gas money to make my interview and hit up the food bank tomorrow when it's open and possibly throw my neighbor, who will be watching my daughter, a few bucks for helping me out tremendously.

I did cry a little bit but it was tears of gratitude for this customer who I guess just decided to spread a little joy this morning. It's sad how just an extra $50 made my whole dang day and it gives me a little hope that things will eventually work out for me.
