Direct Boss got a promotion to another department about 6 months ago, I applied for his job, but the manager says I'm not ready for the promotion…. I inquired about what I could do to meet the requirements, no answer.
The following happened
- Outside Candidate number one accepted, then never showed up.
- Candidate number two wanted to negotiate work from home company said no, he rejected theoffer.
- Candidate number 3 wanted more money, so nope.
- Finally after 5 months an internal candidate was accepted , of course I have to teach him the system and all the ropes.
My Direct boss and I have been training the new guy for the past 4 weeks.
On Monday he says: This is ridiculous ,the job description is not what the manager said it was. I don't understand why they didn't give the job to ” the_tinbear ”
Ends with : I will speak to the manager about it, I'm going back to my old department.
I don't blame the guy, he's cool and all, plus willing to learn however it's just not his area.
Direct Boss is super pissed as he knows I can do his job , he is crossed with manager and wants to finally get his promotion and transfer out. He is pretty overworked juggling both jobs at the same time.
I had been interviewing like crazy and finally got a good offer at a similar company.
surprise surprise: the exact same job I was not ready for.
I quit.
the next two months are going to be interesting
