I work at a manufacturing plant. It's my first week. I was told I would work on the paint line. My job title is leak testing yet they're making me move pipes from crates to carts so they can be oiled. I got this job so I could learn a skill. I'm still in HS so I go to school in the morning and I work from the moment I get out and I don't get back home around 10 PM. Everybody told me that it would be a good job because I could learn stuff but everything I've learned is very job specific. I won't use it anywhere but this job. I worked over the summer at a different place just for some money but tbh Idc care about the money rn I want to learn. My mom says they might just have me start at the bottom and work my way up. I don't really have enough interest in this place to want me to work there for that long just so I can get moved up. I can't tell if I'm being whiny but I don't want to do this job. I had no clue this is where I would be put until my first day of work. I thought maybe they were going to try me in different spots but two days in it's the same job. My mom says to give it time but what is going to be any different in a month? Not saying I want to quit yet but I know if I do I'll be judged. Maybe not my mom, but my Grandparents will and the school will because I'm working through their program. I don't agree with everything on this sub but I didn't know where to post this.
