Not worth the job, not worth my time apparently

I recently applied for a new position at my company. Was being encourage by the manager of the team that the position was for. I was given an interview with the director, executive director, the previously mentioned manager, and my current manager. Went through it and though it went pretty well. Bit of background, I'm in a position where I'm the senior person on my team, I've been with the company for a little over 3 years. I know all of our systems better than almost anybody, and I have people from all over my company coming to me with questions about said systems.

Got a call back from the director of the department today. They are not going with me, because I don't have enough “experience” and they want me to work on a different team but there are no open positions. The person they are going with is from outside the company, and now they will get the opportunity to train them on their systems without me. I have already applied for a bunch of jobs outside of the company and a friend's boyfriend is trying to get me on somewhere else.
