Truly just here to vent…
I've worked on a Geriatric-Psych unit for 4.5 years (7 at the facility total). The pay is pathetic and my nurse manager (who isn't a nurse – figure that one out) is 110% a corporate stooge. Who cares about patient safety and staffing ratios if it makes her look good to the higher ups?
ANYWAY….
I got a new job at a new facility. Great benefits and $18k more per year. The amount of push back I've gotten from my co-workers is insane. I've been told I'll hate it, I'll be back, 'the grass isn't always greener,' and 'Well I hear everyone hates it there so good luck.' All these people discouraging me from growing have worked here for 20+ years and I will be starting my new job at a higher wage than all of them. I guess I'll never understand how people can be so loyal to a company that has done nothing but exploit them.
Also, I put my notice in at 9:30 am. By 10:40 it was posted with a $7500 sign on bonus Never felt so goddamn appreciated in my life. I can't wait to leave this place. 5 more shifts!
