I do remote contract work. I wasn't able to get all my work done by the deadline yesterday because something was wrong with their system. When I explained the situation, they told me they'd give me a one-time exception but I should try to get it done earlier in the week next time. I get it done on time every week. I should not be held accountable for something completely outside of my control.
