I’m working in a travel company in Tokyo. My boss thinks places where we do reservations are grateful to do business with us as we are giving them customers. Tbh, I find ridiculous because why would a 4 star hotel or a popular restaurant in Tokyo needs us? These places can be fully booked without the inconvenience of having to deal with us.
Besides, does he thinks hotel staff are happy that rooms are fully booked? Servers probably hates us for booking the half the restaurant too.
To give you a little background in Japan, most employees were given fixed wage and incentives no matter how busy they are, unless they do overtime which everybody hates. There’s no tipping here. So just imagine their horror every time I call to make reservations for 100 people.
