Overtime?

I've been working 6 days/week for the past month, but I'm paid every other week. In the handbook, my employer defines overtime as more than 80 hours in a pay period, but I'm pretty sure that's not how both the state & feds define it. My understanding is more than 40 hours in a 7 day period is considered OT for an hourly employee. I ask because we had our company picnic the other week and they paid everyone who attended (it was during work hours) under “holiday pay” and therefore it cut 3.5 hours out of my OT (I worked 96 hours in the 2 week pay period, but they made 3.5 “holiday” + 80 regular hours at my hourly rate and then gave me the extra 12.5 hours at the overtime rate).
