I have worked at a gas station for over three and a half years, love it. The one thing that has always irked me is how the owners always allow the sales reps to order stuff we don’t need which both doesn’t fit on the overstock shelves, or doesn’t sell and goes bad.
Somehow the reality of everything physically unable to fit on the shelves is my fault, no matter how many times I have tried to communicate that I am doing all that I can to make them fit. On top of that, I get pulled away from trying to organize the shelves very frequently to do things which in turn take away from my time to organize. As someone with ADHD this is a nightmare, because I will forget what I was doing before and then get grilled about why it wasn’t done.
I used to have an hour of being able to try and maintain everything but then in mid January business slowed down significantly and then I had that hour cut. As a result the shelves and cooler have turned into an utter mess because I do not have enough time now to maintain them. Plus twice a week I am doing someone else’s job while they’re off, which also hampers my stocking and organizing time.
Am I doing something wrong? Or overreacting? Has anyone else who has done stocking before had this problem?
