I will go ahead and say it. People on this sub complain too much.

I agree working can suck and wages aren’t keeping up and all but I’ve seen people here post or comment about how they have been a pizza delivery driver or some other shitty job for 10, 15 years or something and can’t pay rent or afford to live. But in all those years they just stay there and never thought of at least fixing up their resume and applying to other jobs? Maybe taking some courses, learning new skills or anything? I started working at a fast food place for about a year, then went to a retail job for a few, now I have a corporate job working from home with good benefits, good management, no stress and decent pay but nothing crazy. Also I have only a high school diploma and no real valuable skills. I get it’s different for everyone but sometimes it is on you.

Reminder not to go above and beyond

I was working in a job for the last 2 years and went above and beyond all the time. Working 20h overtime a week (UNPAID!), on call for my work so picking up calls at random times like 7am/8pm even though I have a 9-5, working while on PTO. Really I put the company at number 1 in my life and worked as hard as I could. What do I get in return for all the hard work? Nothing! No bonus, no raise in the last 2 years. Nothing at all. Recently I made a simple small request. I normally don’t ask for anything and I thought they’ll help me out considering all that I did for them. But they flat out refused it despite all the hard work I did for them. That made me realise companies do not care about you at all. You work hard for them…

I hear employees say “I don’t get paid enough to do this”. Realistically, how much would be enough?

I get paid by the hour so I took “Bathroom breaks” to add more time to my clock

Bosses tell you to work fast but I'm not getting paid by how much product I make. I get paid on how much time I spend at work. If I was ballsy enough, I'd slip in, clock in, then spend the next few hours doing whatever before slipping back in to clock out. There's no guard or locked door at my factory, so it'd be so easy to flat out “steal” company on occasion. Anyway, a senior worker told me that they were running out of work to pass down so I should slow down on what I was working on. I got some Gatorade from the vending machine and pretended it was sending me to the bathroom every 50 minutes.

Boss ignored my request to go home sick.

I was having a silent panic attack at work last week and asked my boss if I could leave early. He laughed at me and told me there was no chance. When I tried to explain what was going on he laughed again and said “oh so we’re playing the crazy card”. I managed to hold it together for the rest of my shift and completely broke down as soon as I left. Ended up in the hospital an hour later with a BP of 211/167 and admitted to the mental health ward for 72 hours. I’ll be back at work tonight. Debating if I should say something to him or the big boss.

UPDATE TO: I have three back to back interview with the same company and I am so confused

Hi all, I am the girl who about a month ago I asked for input on how to handle 3 back to back interviews(1 and a half hour long with no breaks). it's been about a little over two weeks since I interviewed with them soon to be 3 weeks. I am a bit confused to be honest and need to get more input. I heard from them last week because I followed with them to get a status update as two weeks had gone by and radio silence( I wanted to rip the bandaid off if I wasn't being considered) and to my surprise they advised I was a top candidate but they were waiting for someone to get back from vacation before they made anymore decisions. That was last thrusday and about today I saw the same job that I applied for listed on their website(everywhere else was…

My Sexual Harassment Report Was “Unsubstantiated.” Help Me Understand My Rights

A case of “he said, she said” or “he said, he said” because I am a guy. No one heard what he was saying to me because he would whisper or talk to me when other people weren't around. I did not remain anonymous in my report. When the investigation was finished, they said my claims were unsubstantiated. I am still being told that they will not change my shift so that I do not work with him. I physically cannot work in the same building as him. I am incredibly anxious. When HR told me they couldn't do anything, I cried and decided to go home. I don't know what to do. If I refuse to work any shifts with him, can they fire me? If their investigation concluded that they do not need to take action?
