Return to office, but not your office

I wonder what would happen, if someone who moved states without telling their employer, just showed up at a local branch of their company when they were mandated to return to “the officec and somehow managed to get past security and work “remote” in an unoccupied guest office. I mean some companies are so disorganized that it might not even be noticed for months. I just this thought I bet somebody's done it, and I'm curious to hear how it worked out.

is this worth quitting my job over?

for context, i am 21 years old and i work as a dishwasher at a local restaurant in my area. i've been working there for about a month. for the past two weeks, our pay (especially mine) has been really late. I get that managers have other stuff to do and they can't always get to everything right away (especially because we're local and therefore don't have a big team), but I'm afraid that this is a pretty good indicator that this is going to keep happening in the future, and as someone who desperately needs the money to move out, I don't know if it's something I want to keep dealing with. for example, this started 11 days ago (September 15th) when my direct deposit that was supposed to come on Thursday didn't end up coming at all, and it turns out that it was only affecting me because…

They can’t roster me 24 hour shifts…. but they will roster me 22 hours across a 24hr period.

Hello all, I work in youth residential care work. Our clients live in housing that is supplied by my organisation and the state child protection system, and staff members are required to provide 24/7 support for the clients (this includes sleepover shifts and shifts at all hours of the day). We do get to utilise the sleepover room from 10pm – 6am, but this is circumstance dependent (if a client needs emergency assistance that night or is experiencing a crisis, we are expected to stay up and continue working with them). Plus, even if the clients aren't in need of our assistance – it is always the WORST night's sleep (at least for me), with an uncomfortable bed and never knowing if you will get woken up at some ungodly hour because the client wants assistance. My organisation has a policy to not roster someone for a 24-hour shift without…

My SO has had her boss want her to fill out a form about her disabilities

For reference, she's a substance abuse counselor at a facility. Recently, she's struggled a bit more than usual with anxiety/stress, cried a couple of times at work, and was late (5-10 minutes) a few times last month. Her boss, today, asked her to fill out a form with the title “Reporting an absence or disability” with the Gateway and Prudential company names on the front, and a phone number to report them inside the folder. Her boss said that someone was expecting her to fill it out/or call those people by end of the day. Is there anyway for this to be used against her? She has been struggling, and those late marks can't look good for her, but would acknowledging her depression/anxiety (especially given her field) come back to hurt her in anyway? Or could it help? I can provide more info

Manager calling me on my days off no urgent questions.

I have a new manager, this is the second time she has called me on my day off to ask me a non urgent question. They usually take literally only a minute or less of my time and are always business related but I feel I deserve my days off and not be bothered by work on those days. I have a wonky schedule and she probably won’t see me for a few days in between shifts but Would it be overreacting if I asked her to reserve these calls for emergencies only and stop calling me on my days off ?

What should I do if I believe I have been wrongfully terminated?

So…I got fired today. The supervisor said it was because of a HIPAA violation, but the two other coworkers who reported me said I was close to violating HIPAA, not that I actually did. Additionally, one of those two coworkers was the training manager who targeted me and made it clear that she did not like me. I’m not sure if they lied to the supervisor, but I don’t want this violation on my record. Also, it says on the internet that you are supposed to receive warnings before being terminated. My workplace never gave me a warning, they just terminated me. I am sad and angry. I’m not sure what my next steps should be. Should I get a lawyer? (For context, the violation was that I didn’t check for a release of information [ROI] for a client’s mother before speaking with the mother, even though I never told…

How to better cope with a job you don’t really wanna do?

It’s a low wage job. The work itself isn’t very bad, I’m just a basic laborer. I also don’t have to stand and walk all fucking day so that’s a plus. I can sit for basically 90% of my shift. 7-8 hour days. I start again tomorrow. Im somewhat of a lazy person. The job also is only about a month long til everyone gets laid off again. Thankfully everyone there is nice, it’s a good environment to work in. I also have a good amount of savings (just got 40k). So just doing this so I can maintain my savings and have money for rent, food, gas, etc. Anyway how can someone make work more bearable and even enjoyable?

Dude try to make me feel ashamed for having priorities.

I work for a temp agency. They found me a job last week. Yes he told me the hours (6-4:30) and the measly pay ($14) and yes I agreed to go. Turns out the work is much more demanding than originally thought, so I called him today and said I need more pay and less hours or I new a new assignment. “Well the wage is not going to change but you can speak with the HR manager there and see if she can work with you on the hours. If the job was 6-2:30 we wouldn’t be struggling to fill the spots.” Well yes you would, because the pay is $14 an hour in an un-air conditioned warehouse, working 10 hour days with a 30 minute break only. Dude got an attitude with me because I told him I won’t work that if the hours and wage don’t change.…
