What was your breaking point?

In my last position, I was so burnt out, from 3am emails, no time off, the lack of support from my supervisor, the constant stream of new projects, but what sealed the deal, the last nail in the coffin was a dead weight employee gave notice. I was polite and said, thank you, then proceeded to have a meeting with my boss, and said let's celebrate. However, instead of celebrating, we needed to have meetings with HR over the next 2 weeks about what went wrong and how we could have salvaged this employee. I gave notice before dead weights last day.

Mentally taxed

I work a stressful warehouse supervisor job that has been extremely taxing on my mental and physical health, I don’t want to get out of bed most days and my weekends usually consist of laying around because I’m way to tired to take part in my hobbies,be social, play with my daughter. Pay is great, benefits are great, but at the cost of my mental health? I’m on anti anxiety and depression medication and have been on short term leave for 3 weeks now but truly don’t know if it’s worth going back. Thoughts? I’m struggling with feelings of being a bum if I throw this job away.

This is my equivalent to “how often do men think about the Roman Empire”

About five years ago I worked at a bank that rhymes with Shells Bargo. It was an office job in a very prominent downtown Denver skyscraper, which sounds nice but pay was still only about $40k a year and the office layout/furniture was still from the early 90s! Not anyone's dream job… I will never forget when there was a massive lottery payout like $700MM and everyone was discussing what they would do if they won. TWO people on my team of 10… TWO (!!!) said they would still come into work the next day because “they would feel bad.” No our boss wasn't around, they weren't just sucking up. That was the moment I knew the company brainwashed people and I had to get out… thank God I did, but I seriously think about them all the time and wonder about their thought process is for day to day…

Being reviewed @ a job that is eroding at my mental health. Desperately seeking help.

I’ve been working as a director at an ad agency for two years. Two weeks ago, my manager informed me I was to undergo a four-week performance review. If it’s helpful context, I work in advertising. This is the start of week three. Year one my review was good — and I did not get a raise but I was given a spot bonus. Some of the points she raised was valid — I am not going to pretend as if everything that’s being raised here are unfair. Some issues are born out of office politics — an EVP on my account in another function that’s also going under a review has put me in her crosshairs. I work with her on nearly every project & she is criticized for being difficult to work with and breaking process to “be scrappy and fast” with results in projects taking longer to…

Workplace Ignored Our Concerns of Mold for a Year

To preface this, we are located in the U.S. (Miami to be exact). About a year ago my coworkers and I started noticing black specks on our desks. We thought it was odd and were even more concerned when we found a large black chunk (about the size of a quarter) on one of our filing cabinets, directly below an air vent. We brought this up to one of the company owners with a photo attached as proof, but he never responded to our message. We then decided to take it to our Director and she informed us that she would call an A/C company – which took a whole month to be clear – and she informed us it was an issue with the rubber cord for the unit falling apart. We were told it was replaced and everything was fine now but that there were no filters in…

I’m going absolutely fucking feral because I’ve been suspended for half a year now pending an incident investigation, but the investigation was done within two weeks, and they had the nerve to ask me to pay them for insurance I didn’t use while still not letting me work?!?!

I posted a (mostly) more professional-sounding and more detailed account on r/legaladvice because I'm fucking fed up but I wanted to hop here to vent too lmao I work at a private company in the Houston, TX area caring for adults with intellectual disabilities, with no union because of course we don't have a fucking union 😀 Almost half a year ago, a coworker accused me of hitting a resident, which led to an investigation by HHSC (or APS). You'd think that'd be a huge deal, because it should be, but it's not because people tend to call each other in to get each other “put out” from work to be petty. That also should be a bigger deal than it is, but it has to be so egregiously and obviously bullshit that they can't ignore it for them to punish anyone for false reporting. The scheduling lead was so…

Nighttime Panic

Hello all! This is going to be more of a rant. I’m hoping some of you will feel relief hearing that others feel this way. Every night I start to think of work and the next day ahead. I hate where I’m currently at. I’m in an office with a very gossipy boss who is nice to everyone’s face but will talk smack about them the second they’re out of earshot. Being the only other permanent person in this office I need to hear all of it and don’t want to be a part of it anymore. I want to say that my boss is borderline uncontrolled bipolar because his mood swings from one extreme to the next. When he gets angry it gets very bad. This is a place with decent pay and good benefits but requires everyone to go above and beyond even when it hurts them. My…
