48% voted no on more money sooner.
Just wanted to share something I experienced a few years ago when I was working for a auto parts company. We were unionized and were deep into “negotiations” and the members were somehow split almost directly down the middle in yes/no votes for a 4 year contract. We had barely managed to send the first offer back (53%), the horrible offer of 5 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 10 cents raises, each to be given out at the end of each year. Horrible. I made the motion to hold a mock vote to determine exactly were the union stands before we make the actual vote, in the event the majority wishes to strike we can all vote in unison. This motion failed. I then made the motion to ask for the order of our raises to change from 5-5-10-10, to 10-10-5-5 so we can at least make a few penny's…
Hey there, I hope it is okey to post this there. So,I work as a coordinator in the marketing department of an hotel chain. Nothing we do in the “Marketing” department involves marketing. I just do data input of dates we sent contracts in an excel and nothing much. When I took the job, they oversell me what I will have to do. But basically, what I do is inputs and send mass emails. I am not even allow to take a phone call. I feel very diminish by this. I was previously an assistant to the communication manager in my previous job (9 months) but quit because the pay was very very low and she went down for fraud. Before that, i work a secretary for very toxic work place for 4 years. That left me with PTSD. I am thinking o f quitting because I am sad and…
Barring a long story, I got put on a 30 day PIP, and will be getting fired from the job I absolutely hated since the very first day. So I feel relief for the first time since January. I’m happy to move on. But I have accumulated lots of pto I never used. Should I just take pto ? Is there a chance of it getting denied? This place is really bad for my mental health, need some time off. Thoughts?
Incentivize remote work
What do you all think of a federal tax credit for business to have US based remote workers? So many companies are pushing RTO orders. We need a way, other than flat out refusal, to allow more people to have remote as an option. There are just so many human benefits to WFH remote work I feel like it is the government's place to encourage it.
2 weeks ago some pipes burst which cause flooding on some floors. Water seeped through floors, ceilings .. the works. The company has the employees who work in the area of damage sitting in it working. SMH. Dust ,stench galore. And soon to be mold since nothing has been cleaned or replaced. And last week the ceiling and light fixtures fell in the locker area.
How to get a “good” job
How do people actually get a good paying job that isn't at a toxic company?
I hope this is an okay place to post this. I’ll try to keep it brief, but it’s a long complicated story. I do actually like my boss. Idk if it’s basically stockholm syndrome at this point because I don’t really have a single good thing to say about her, so I’m not sure why I genuinely care about her and her business. I consider myself a really loyal people pleaser and I am not feeling good about what is coming. I am part of a very small team of 3 full time people, 3 part time students and the owner. Two of the full time people plan to walk out tomorrow during a meeting where our boss plans on tearing us apart for no good reason. We worked incredibly hard over the last couple weeks, to the point where I made myself sick, everything went wrong but I worked…
