So, I recently got hired to work for Advantage Solutions, a company that outsources people to give samples and demonstrate products in places like Kroger, Target, Wal-Mart, and Sam's Club. I finished my online training last month because of the due dates (having a hard time remembering the training due to Dissociative issues). And they told me to wait for my New Hire Kit to come in the mail, and then let them know so I can start doing events. BUT. APPARENTLY my first day was yesterday. But I never got my new hire kit until this morning! Literally had it handed to me by the postman this morning! And I got emails saying “You missed an event”. I didn't even know I was scheduled for events! I thought they were waiting for me to tell them if I got my new hire kit or not, like my manager said!…
Company is trying to keep my pto
So at the large warehouse I work at, there’s a point system for absences, no unexcused absences even if you have a doctors note or something. You get 4 violations and the 4th is termination. After the 90 day probationary period I got 5 days of vacation pay. The pto policy that employees have access to says that if you quit or get terminated you receive the pto payout. This company has treated me horribly, and if you give your two week notice they’ll fire you or give you shitty work/stop you from working, anything that’ll make it harder for you to transition to your next job. They write you up like 3 weeks after the actual absences happened, so you could have enough points to be fired but you get fired 3 weeks later, not the day you actually get enough points to be fired. I was trying to…
I'm applying for Planet of the Vapes, and I got this non-compete form. My current morning job is pretty toxic ( see previous posts of mine about it if you want an idea) so I'm looking for an out. Is this a red flag? I have an interview today and I am going, if they can give me enough hours to equal or go over what I make now I'll take it. I am really nervous though, this would be leaving the cooking industry at least for my morning job. I don't really want to, my pay would be reduced to $15 instead of $17, but I'm just not getting enough hours at my prep job. Also I don't have a car yet and my boyfriend is able to drive me to work, but the walk would be a little longer with this new job and different hours so I…
“Hope this email finds you well. I am writing to you about a pattern that is concerning with regard to your request for sick leaves. In as much as an employee can call in sick, this must be done within reasonable time and consideration to ensure that a replacement is found within time to cover the shift. On Saturday the 16th of September, 2023 you sent a Whatsapp message at 3.56 am expecting a replacement to be found for you at 10:00 am. This was repeated on Thursday the 21st of September, 2023 when you sent a message at 21.51 about being sick. I was expecting that a message could be sent early on Friday but still waited until 20:50 to send me a message about your inability to report to work on Saturday. The same happened on the 23rd of July, 2023 sending a message at 23:32 and I…
job experience: terrible & vent
*Posting this on behalf of my younger sister who doesn´t have a reddit account but wanted to share this here. All of the following text was written by her: Hi guys. This is my first post ever and I don't really know how to use Reddit, but I've seen some videos about people using this website to vent and connect to people who have similar life experiences (and in this case Weird-Ass-Job-Experiences)… and I thought “Well, why not?” *All names are fake btw and ENG isn't my first language so sorry for bad writing!!! So, let me tell you about my last job. I got into it in march 2023, I was hired as a Museum Assistant. I wasn't really looking for a job at the time because I was having a hard time with mental health and my family wanted me to stay at home and dedicated to…
About a month ago, I posted here my distress about taking my PTO but coming back to my post being no more. Although many urged me to take my PTO, I decided agaisnt. Recently, I had a family emergency. I let them know last week I'd most likely be taking a day or two off to attend a funeral. They said they covered me. We got into town yesterday, last night I had a very realistic dream of me getting fired / removed from the post. Just me being emotional and using my super power, overthinking right? Well…while I was in the middle of the funeral, supporting my crying husband – my boss texted me that my coverage no called no showed so the client was done with the company. When I posted a month ago how I didn't understand how if they couldn't prepare coverage for me for a…

A fair live in my eyes would be that how much we work + house chore time + commute time is equal to our leisure time. However, if I look at how much I work and travel, it is way more than my spare time. Also, in spare time I am tired. Which means it is not effective spare time. So: my time is being stolen.
Curious to see what everyone who WFH gets. I WFH full time and my boss has made comments that a lunch break isn’t really necessary when I get to be home all day and can eat at any point. Sure, I get that, but I wish I could leave to go somewhere or if I had an appointment leave the house on my lunch break. What do you all get to do?
