First day of getting my schedule and see they got my availability wrong!

I went to orientation for a retail store aka Ross and saw I was literally put two of my three training days at 3:45 am instead of 5 am which is my starting availability. I even told the ASM about it and she said it’s the time the truck starts. I’m calling tomorrow because this is ridiculous! I couldn’t even get a word in since they where having a meeting in the office. I find it weird how a truck is going to start at 3:45 when another ASM told me they start unloading at 5 am. Seems they don’t even know what they’re doing. Considering the ASM didn’t know I was supposed to interview the day I came in.

I’m so overworked that my only dreams include work.

Nothing else happens in my life anymore so even if i sleep in my head I’m in that place working. Does anyone else ever get this? Waking up in the middle of the night and realising that your mind is so occupied with work it can’t even think of anything else. It feels like I can’t ever escape.

My New job expect me guess how everything works

I just changed to work place that's closer to my home so I can start on a driver's license. It's a gas station only 14 minutes away, I thought perfect job for only 1 year but no. I already wanna leave 2 weeks I never got anything explained except the cash register, my boss constantly got angry at me that I was doing something wrong nobody ever showed me how to do. She just sended me into nightshift all by my own, no explanation what to do, only a list of things to do. But there is the thing…the list only says what I need to bake, not where stuff is, not how the oven works, not that i needed to clean the floor and where the mop is and more. So after 11 days of worker there she had been yelling at me 5 of these days, tells the…

Coworker gives 2-week notice, then backpedals during farewell party and begs to stay

At work, one of my coworkers dropped his 2-week notice like a hot potato. On his “last” day, we threw a potluck. I whipped up some basmati rice jazzed up with saffron. But as the clock ticked, Mr. 2-weeks turned from confident to “I’ve-made-a-huge-mistake” vibes. After his “final” exit interview, he popped back, saying he was staying. Rumor has it, he gave his 2 weeks notice expecting a counter-offer from HR, but management served him a reality check instead and called his bluff. Maybe it was the master's degree he just attained that made him think he was worth more, or maybe he stayed because he just didn't get enough of my rice!

Tired broken and now extreme anxiety trying to find a new job

Ive been working at a school district for 6 years with the same pay and in the school I am working now they are constantly attacking how I look how I walk how I sneeze and telling me I should be grateful for working at 10 dollars an hour when I can barely feed myself…. I'm at the end of my rope to the point where I feel suicidal most of the days…. I can't even apply to other jobs anymore as it becomes nerve wracking and my anxiety just makes me freeze in the interview process… I don't know what to do and with how things are going I feel like I'll go homeless with credit card debt from buying food since 10 dollars an hour is not considered poverty for government assistance.

Toxic boss uses idiotic “salt and pepper” test to reject qualified job applicants

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/boss-uses-salt-pepper-test-30896713.amp Honestly, petty childish shit like this is why we need ALL large companies to be converted into worker-owned cooperatives as soon as possible. We don’t need to give petulant man children the authority to decide who gets a job and who has to starve in the streets based on arbitrary bullshit nonsense that doesn’t matter.

I don’t want to lose who I am

Recently I got a new job. I’m finally making some money and even being able to put back some stuff. It’s… odd yet rewarding. However, everybody in this position is the opposite of me. All they care about is money, they “pulled themselves up from their bootstraps” and they think that nobody wants to work today. How do I not lose who I am? I agree with 99% of what is posted on this sub and the 1% is just stupid stuff the mods take down because it doesn’t belong here. Which… this might not either but I guess we will find out. I want to look back on this post every year to see if I have changed, and how I can get back to who I am. So please, I’m asking you Reddit, help me keep the person that I am. I don’t want to see myself a…

$1.6b in profits but just limited amount of hours casuals can work to save on wages

Hi, I'm from Australia. I work at a store called BWS (a chain of liquor stores). It's the largest alcohol retail chain in the country. BWS is owned by Endeavour Drinks Group, a subsidiary of Woolworths Group Limited (a large grocery store chain). Woolworths just reported $1.6b in profits just for the grocery chain, not BWS or any other companies they own so the figure is likely closer to the $2.3b mark. I was recently told by my manager that Woolworths is severely limiting the amount that is allowed to be spent on wages for casual employees and forcing other casuals to go part-time so Woolworths can save money on wages. We are in a cost-of-living crisis and forcing employees to go part-time and only guaranteeing them 10 hours a week or they will be fired and the store managers will have to rehire new staff that can go straight…
