38/F and Jobless
After finishing my masters, I joined one of the top consulting firm back in 2007 a campus hire. I worked there for almost 8 years and quit to embark on my entrepreneurial journey. I had a pretty great start and the company was self sustaining without any external investments until the covid shit happened. I had to shut down the company last year. I don't want to get back to the grind of entrepreneurship so my best option is to move back to consulting and its been almost a year I have been trying to look for a job. I used to work as a PeopleSoft consultant back then so been applying to positions with my previous company and 100 other consulting firms. Now the problem is I have 8 years gap in my consulting career so none of the companies are willing to take a chance with me. I…
Employee abandonment
So about 4 weeks ago. My gf asked for min -Friday off in September for a trip to vegas. Her boss just told her yesterday he’s prob going to have to deny because that Friday he would be out of town. He said he was willling to work with her and give her Monday-Thursday. But not Friday. And if she doesn’t show she’ll be terminated for employee abandonment. She’s been there for a year and still haven’t even got a raise. The other day he finally said if she wanted to do 401k she could do 3% and he’d match it. But the actual raises she was promised after 90 days never happened. And she was just now put on pto. Another worker there is bilingual and doesn’t even get paid more.
My last job was a nursing home. I worked as an RSA (basically one step below an STNA). I had work there for months, I LOVED the residents, I basically went above and beyond for them. I tried my hardest to be friends with my coworkers, but everyone else seemed to know one another and no one would really give me the time of day. That’s okay, i guess. I’ve asked a couple of times about if there was a program or something where I could become an STNA and then return back to the home as an STNA. (where they pay for the class for you, one of the long term nurses told me about it) I was told SEVERAL times that they used to, but they don’t have it anymore. So i saved up my money for weeks, (at some point here, a new coworker (M30), an RSA…

Reported former employer for shadiness
I worked on medical equipment at this place. Items came to us from around the US. They came from homes and medical facilities alike. Well that being said they sometimes came with”friends”. Bugs, cockroaches and more, mice, rats. Well roaches carry a lot of diseases but did they get rid of them? Not always. If there were some they often times would vacuum them out and fix the equipment, they weren’t properly cleaned either. One time had a mouse nest in one, loaded with feces too, thrown out? Nope! Vacuumed and that’s it. I flipped to say it lightly. I sprayed the equipment down with viral and bacterial disinfectant. Scrubbed inside and out. I was furious that they would jeopardize someone’s health for their pocket book. Well I called a manufacturer of some of the equipment they repair and told them EVERYTHING!!! The friends inside the equipment, them using warranty…
Should I call the HR hotline?
There's no HR office in the building I work in. I'm expected to go to my boss for grievances, but have to call the hotline if I have a complaint about my boss. By calling a distant third party to handle a toxic situation, I can't help but worry that any report I make is just going to make things worse. The main play is to quit after lining up a new job, but in the meantime, how can i go about this the right way? Is it worth even calling/emailing? Or am I better off reporting nothing?
So for the past 4 years I worked for a marketing agency. They are the biggest in the area and have a huge amount of clients. I work as a medior marketing specialist and have a lot of contact with my clients. A year ago I decided to work part time and work for myself as content creator. Because I still want to do more creativity by making instead of thinking and planning the whole time. The company I work for is overpriced for their service, also the quality is not always the best but a lot of clients got the feeling they have no choice. When word went out that I had my own business a lot of clients came to me but I tried to explain that I only do content, not making entirely marketing strategies. But by client requests I started doing more work. My job find…
do i quit? im confused
i(f21) am a hostess at your local Chilis, have been hosting for almost a year. they offered me a higher position my third month working there, but never actually gave it to me. then offered it to me again a few months ago, but still haven't actually moved me up. however, they moved up someone who started hosting after me smh. i do more than my jobs description (buss tables, clean the restaurant, run food, train new hosts) and don't get paid extra or tips ofc. they've changed my schedule consistently this whole year (i went from working just nights, 4 days a week. then all mornings, 5 days a week. and now 3 days a week, mornings & nights). them fucking bumping me down to 3 days brought me down $117, which is drowning me financially. and they keep scheduling me with a girl that picks on me, despite…
