I’ve always worked at family run small/medium sized business where I’ve had a huge amount of responsibilities been a jack of all trades learning the bare minimum as I go no growth or training opportunities barely scraping the surface on any discipline because I’m spread thin been paid little and never really felt appreciated My current job is different though and has destroyed my mental health, and there is a trend within the company of other men who’ve struggled with worsening depression and low self esteem as a result of working here I have no real manager, no set working hours, no targets set, no goals, no training, I’m not kept in the loop, the rest of my team left and I’m now on my own. The neglect of my department is damaging the business, is our biggest opportunity to scale and it’s insane to me that nobody seems to…
Union response to company after my termination.
Boss found out that some of the people in our office were discussing salary with each other. Then he personally asked one of them and said please do not discuss compensation with the others. Welp, it is illegal in my state to ask employees not to discuss compensation, and it’s also unethical!! What reason could he have other than wanting to underpay people?
Got fired and don’t know what to think
I don’t know what to think about this at all. Over the past couple weeks tips have been going missing from regulars, and once I noticed someone leaving cash on the table for another waitress and then it being gone when someone else cleans it. I want to preface that for some reason we don’t have bussers except if we are slammed and servers clean their own tables 90% of the time. I’ll explain three situations when I was working although the other servers have other moments. As of late, manager has been asking to borrow money and get rides from servers and cooks. Recently a server’s regular who always leaves $20 for her had told me he left her tip as normal, but when she came back from break and went to clean his table it was already taken care of and money gone. At first she thought he…
My co-worker/manager treat me like shit
I'm graduated a few month ago and got a job but they all treat me bad. I'm afraid to go to work. I can't sleep even dream about work. And last two week I told them im gonna quit a job and they ask why? All I said is becuase i want a job near my house but they don't want me to quit. Now they all treat me better but sometime just hurt my feeling. Should I quit a job?
Really bizarre tip pool situation
In May I started working at this cafe/lounge/venue/patio. During my interview the person hiring told me that all of the tips from the cafe, lounge and patio were pooled for the week and divided by hours worked, immediately I thought that was weird but I was desperate for a job. At first I’m only bartending in the venue and that’s great, the tips are split amongst the other bartenders and we walk with our cash. Fast forward a month and I am asked to start working the patio, that’s when I realize how absolutely f*cked the tip pool is. At the end of the shift, you walk with no cash, you put it in envelope along with your drop and that supposedly goes into the pool. So I get my paycheck and after brining close to $300 for two shifts I see $74 in tip on my paycheck… and that’s…
No advice needed here just coming here to rant a bit, basically the title says it all. I’ve been working private security for a little over a year now and all the benefits that they had when I first came on board are pretty much all gone. Our $75 monthly stipend for gas got thrown away, OT is completely gone, and now I learned the other day that they’re snatching money from our paychecks to pay for our license to be able to work (previously covered 100% by the company) to the point where, despite having a higher wage now, I’m making less than what I did because of that deduction. It’s just crazy to me that a company that makes so much money feels the need to basically make its employees have to pay them to be able to work for them, especially when previously it was completely covered…
My girlfriend works for Spencer’s gifts. She got this package in the mail today. She said it’s a literal brick, like a cinder block. Not a box made to look like that or something useful. But a literal fucking brick.
I manage a bunch of janitors at different office buildings. Tonight 2 of them are out at a building and only 1 is there. I have no one to cover and my boss doesn't seem to want to do anything. What are my options? I let them know yesterday at about my day off already. It's really stressing me out knowing I'll be blamed tomorrow if things don't get done. Do I have to just suck it up and go cover? Any advice is appreciated. I know this sub is antiwork but I'd like realistic advice if possible. Really can't lose this job. Thank you!
I hate people
So I started a new job at a dog kennel and we have to take pictures of the dogs, I thought I was doing okay at it but I guess not as of today. They’re really janky cameras and the HR department gets to use their phone to take pictures. I noticed that after I took a bunch of pictures they would come in, not say anything and take more of the dogs. I was really confused by it and it’s kind of uncomfortable. I asked “oh did I not take enough pictures?” And she goes “you want me to be honest?” With a smirk, “you suck” I was in shock. Not at the fact that she told me I sucked, but more pissed off that they didn’t tell me the whole month that I’ve been here, instead of going behind my back. Makes me feel really un welcome and…
