Retail is becoming third world in my state. My first day after switching stores and I see this in the dishroom for a multi billion dollar company

Either thats mold on the vent, or dust. Either way I sneeze constantly near it. The dishwasher has this smelly gunk in it, and I pulled out fucking hair from inside the damn filter On top of things, I've been loyal to this company for 6 fucking years, and I get shit pay still, none of the coworkers or managers show an ounce of respect despite saying they “need” me. The AC also unit doesn't work when it's 110 outside, nothing is done to fix it. I'm in charge of 2 departments with the wage of 1. I also found out why even other retail positions wouldn't hire me was because I put my past stores from the same chain as experience, they all apparently answer “no” when asked the question “would you hire x again”? I live in Iowa, so you know that there's an active war to strip…

Boss wanted us to come in on Saturday (we’re a M-F welding shop) to epoxy the floors so they can save $22,000 by not hiring professionals. Yeah big time fuck that.

How much of that $22,000 are we gonna see? But don't worry, they'll buy you lunch that day!! Think I'll be staying home and drinking for this one, chief.

EVERYBODY in the US should be entitled to Free or government provided health care and 3 months vacation (recess they call it) like senators and congress people

Senate and congress reps get a yearly salary of $174K and on top of it among many other benefits, 3 months vacation, housing estipends and transportation. Yet we the people get bankrupt if we get sick, and we are lucky if we get a week of PTO per year for any casualties. How is it that “we” are voting for this oxymoron election after election?? Republican, democrats, libertarians, everyone should be demanding this from their legislators. Yet everyone becomes a chamber echo for ” how are we going to pay for it”? When their propaganda machines start to work the populace. This is where YOU should be calling them asholes and demanding it. I call once a week my local reps to pester them about it. Let's start a campaign all across the country

The Great Dilemma… Why?

I hate my job. Like everyone here. Yet, I can’t tell if I hate my job because of the circumstances or because of the content. Let me elaborate. I work as a physical therapist in a small rural community in the Midwest. My current job requires me to commute a short distance (25 min) each way. I work four nine hour days and one four hour day. I have previously worked in this profession within the town I reside, however was let go recently. I am also the father to a beautiful 23 month old girl and we are expecting our second kid in a month. I can’t figure out if I dislike my profession, and the job duties associated with the healthcare system or if I dislike the commute and lost time with my family as I come home from work missing dinner four nights of the week. Working…

Is now the time to speak to the Department of Labor?

Hi everyone! I’ve been struggling on the next steps for this as it’s really frustrating and everyone seems to be at a standstill. I get tuition reimbursement of $5k per year. I have received $2.4k in January to cover last fall’s tuition. Policy states we should get our reimbursements 30 days after approval. My approval for my spring reimbursement was done on May 17th. First of all they were going to give me the wrong reimbursement I clearly stated in the notes my receipt for what school costed and what I was asking for was different. I was only asking for 1.4k and the bill was 2.4k and they stated “approved for 2k” So I still do not have my reimbursement. I sent an inquiry at the end of June to HR asking for an update. They decided to respond when you could clearly tell I was OOO for vacation…

1 hour interview, didn’t ask me a single question.

I went in for an interview at this new, fancy hotel that opened up in my city. Interview started at 10 ended around 11:15. The whole time the hiring manager was talking about how great the company is, her vacation she just took with her family, her son graduating high school, and about her has a teenager in high school. Not once did she ask me about anything on my resume, or anything about me. When she would talk about the company and what it has to offer, she would immediately talk over me if I had something to say like “That’s wonderful to hear about the company!”. At the end of the “interview”, she didn’t even offer me a position, she just told me that she was going to email me new hire paperwork to fill out and that my start date was the following Monday. I laughed about…

Every time I get a job I doubt everything or it turns out to be a shit show

I feel hopeless and burnt out. Does every job suck? Does work (especially new ones) make people anxious or is there something wrong with me? If it doesn't suck in one way it'll suck in another and if you get another job it'll also suck in a different way but be good in a different way. So for the past 5 years I've been working at the same company and it was pretty okay for the first two but now I've hit burnout and everyone sucks and I hate my life and I'm chronically stressed, cranky, or resentful. So for the past year I've been working a series of other jobs as well as this one just to see if I can find something else to do that doesn't make me want to kill myself. Well I've had four other jobs one of them was a call center one of…

What do you think of apps like Instawork?

I worked a few shifts with it. I have to say, some really immortal/lowlife people work for this app. Getting into fights and all. Meanwhile people are so desperate for gig work. Like I don't get it, why risk it so much and not get a regular job? Just flexibility?
