Overpaid on final paycheck help?
So I’m currently working my final week for a company. I work 4 on/4 off night shifts, 6pm-6am. This is my final week of a 4 week notice period which I personally believe was a rather gracious of me to give them. At the start of the year, I was moved to the other night shift for what I was told would be 3 months. I rearranged my holidays around this and had them signed off by my manager. After 3 weeks on the other shift, I was moved back. Due to the company moving my shifts about (with inadequate notice) and me planning holidays around their changes, I was forced to use 4 of my holidays. I now, at the time of my leaving, owe the company 6.5 nights of pay (4 of which being their fault). I was told by HR when I leave on the 16th, I…
I was accidentally fired today
So my engineering contract was up for renewal. They assured me all was well. Everything was taken care of I didn’t have to do anything. My pharmacy bill was rejected so I called and they said your health insurance didn’t go through. I call the shitty health insurance company they say you were canceled as of May 31st. I call my contractor and they said I was accidentally terminated. After I billed 40 hours for the week. Of course, it all happens at 4:00 on a Friday when it’s too late to fix anything. So I guess I’m unemployed and uninsured until Monday.
I just returned to my job after a month of necessary medical leave. While I was on leave I interviewed with another company and got the official offer today, so I gave my notice immediately. I was only able to give a week, as the new job wants me to start a week from Monday. My boss responded to it by coming unhinged and questioning my medical leave, which I felt was extremely inappropriate. My question is, is it illegal for him to harass me about my medical leave? Do I have any sort of case against him for either HR or a lawyer to look into? Any advice would be appreciated. I know I'm on my way out of the company but I don't want him to keep going unchecked and treating other people similarly horrible. Edit: I'm in California, if that effects the labor law aspects of the…
Saw this question on Quora and want to post this here. I currently work as a security guard and I feel like I only work for 30 minutes a day in a 8 hour shift. I work at a utilities site where my duties are to patrol the area which takes me 10 minutes to do. I also let trucks in at the main gate and I recieve 3 to 5 trucks a week where I have to open the gate for them. The rest of the time I'm sitting in my shack with nothing to do. I play on my phone, brought my Steam Deck, Switch Lite, and 3ds to pass the time. Anyone else have a really chill job?
We need a general strike
I’m fucking sick of this shit. Pay is enough to live off of 40 hours or get fucked needs to be the bare minimum. I don’t even know why i bother. I might as well kill myself cause I ain’t doing this shit for sustenance the next 40 years if all I have to show for it is nothing
Hi all, I’ve posted on this sub before and you all were extremely helpful (thank you and shoutout to the millennials). As a recap, I’m 22 and just got a full time position at a company where there’s always volunteer stuff going on, people asking for donations, mandatory learning modules, and “fun” activities. I don’t mind some of these things (minus constantly being asked for money), as long as they’re within working hours. Recently, my company created a competition where everyone can track their daily physical activity and put it into a public log for points. My department decided to join as a team, but whether I enrolled or not wouldn’t make a difference for their score whatsoever. My coworkers are in there late 30s and 40s and seem pretty into it, but I honestly don’t care to join or participate. I know it’s a small task but I still…
