Most workers know they’re being exploited. Why are we not doing anything about it at a government level? This is not a bitch. I’m trying to round up the problems to see which the highest up issue is, and what we have to do to get it resolved. I work for an employer that has a union. We still don’t get shit for pay (20/h barely allows me to keep my car and the one bedroom I rent in someone else’s house, and I barely spend any money on food). Yeah we can create unions. But they become corrupt too. Especially when your union includes the people that work in HR, whose job it is to protect the company. Unions are a bandage (and yes one that is needed) but these companies are still going to keep exploiting us until we can change the laws. And we can’t ONLY count…
Should I sue lowes?
About a week ago we got emails saying we were going to have a bbq for all employees today 4/15, and it said “impossible burgers and tri tip” I am vegetarian and I am severely allergic to peanuts and many don’t know that peanuts are related to peas. So today I went to the break room to eat what I thought was an impossible meat burger. I started to eat it and my throat was feeling funny and was starting to get tight. There could only be one reason this was happening, they cooked the Beyond Meat burgers (which is a completely different brand than impossible meat). The beyond meat burgers have Pea Protein, as I mentioned before I am severely allergic to peanuts and that makes me allergic to peas as well. I asked my manager what brand they used and they go to pull it out from the…
Haven’t posted much on reddit, so forgive me if this is kinda weird formatting. Also, this is a long one, it’s been building for months. TLDR: management dragged out a possible promotion for me only to go back on their word and then blamed it on me. A little backstory: I’ve been at this lab for a little over a year on night shift. We got a new manager and supervisor about three months in and they’ve been generally awful. I’m the CLA who’s been there longest on night shift, and they’ve been basically treating me like a lead with training responsibilities anyways. Management comes in around 7ish and I only see them in the lab for about 30 minutes before they’re whisked away for meetings and my shift ends, which accounts for some of the gaps. They’d either be too busy talking to other staff or already gone before…

My wife quit her job at Value Buds. This is some of the drama the ensued: Please allow me to take you on a journey through my experience of ending my “gainful” employment with Value Buds: https://preview.redd.it/pqutarc3qrt81.png?width=461&format=png&auto=webp&s=45a2596ae22a6cd25de8690a5fa22718ae550afb https://preview.redd.it/wj7895igqrt81.png?width=508&format=png&auto=webp&s=9be009cd8f860eb1b04ebd875f83b4f0b2eca957 https://preview.redd.it/0qxltwwwqrt81.png?width=514&format=png&auto=webp&s=7c8e4744dd411557f282983a259dff63b833ce32 https://preview.redd.it/iouy80uxrrt81.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=24c77c3e9c9324de8053dc2c19b16b82c224e311 Indicated early on with management and corporate that I would prefer daytime/weekday shifts. The entire time I was employed I worked nothing but evenings and weekends. Being a woman of 5″1″, I'm not super comfortable dealing with irate customers that outweigh me 10 to 1. Was put in this situation more than one time at Value Buds, and the “corporate head office” did absolutely nothing to help me. When my safety was in question. TL,DR – Don't work for Value Buds or any of its subsidiaries if you have any integrity
Basically I have a vindictive boss and they are very toxic. I have done and gone above and beyond for this company and I'm done with the mistreatment and things that have been said to me. I've recently accepted a position at another company that better aligns with my career goals and needless to say, better pay. I expect my boss to flip out when I hand in my two weeks notice. I wouldn't be surprised if I was fired on the spot. If I don't get fired they are going to demand to know where I am going. I have always been professional and want to stay that way. What's the most polite way to tell them it is none of their business? Any tips on how to prepare for the hellish 2 weeks if I don't get fired?
So today was my last Friday before my two weeks notice ends. I saw a Ferrari in the parking lot. It’s the same one I saw on my bosses computer a year ago when he needed my help. I also know they were granted and forgiven $177,000 in ppe loans. The same year they made record profits in the small business they own. I’ve been upset all day today. Not so much with the Ferrari but the fact that he has gained so much off the labor of people paid so few.
