I've been walking in and filing out applications like all these boomers tell me to do. While this has increased my chances as its harder to turn down a person than an email its still not a guarantee. The jobs that are offering walk in and work are jobs that we all know suck. No career is offering a walk in and work. Shitty unsafe factories, warehouses with shit shifts or one day contracts are the only places doing walk in hiring events. Where's the walk in at 18 knowing absolutely nothing starting at the equivalent of 30hr today with day one paid training and benefits. When my dad was my age he moved across country knowing no one and they just took his word he knew what he was doing and was experienced in his field and they just gave him a high paying job. class warfare in housing is very real
I'm a service employee who lives in a neighborhood that isn't gentrified yet. There is/was a bunch of studio apartments at the end of my street that actually might've not been too far out of my budget. Some developer bought them in May, and is definitely working on prepping the 2 buildings for demolition. I have less than no doubt they'll build something new and charge double. So that's what I get to look at every day. It's a constant reminder of my living situation (I rent a bedroom in this lady's house) and how actually tenting an apartment seems like it'll be impossible for the rest of time

That a big army. How big of an army do we need to end the billionaire ruling class. Force fair trade and fair financial practices. End starvation and homelessness. Provide free healthcare and drugs for all. Provide clean drinking water for all. Clean all waterways end all environmental destruction we can. Clean up all garbage. Find a solution for all the plastic. I don't see why these things are a big ask and I don't understand why we all just spend so much time sitting around talking and not doing something. I get a lot of people are busy working but I'd rather not be stuck this way for the rest of my life or set my child up for the same bullshit we all go through. Something's got to change somethings got to give. ” It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime What better place than…
No one who works deserve poverty
I started working at a pub, the online training consisted of about an hour of 2 minute slides, the actual training was fine I suppose. Long story short, I've been there about a month and I hate it, its depressing and tedious, and not for me at all. My boss already took some shifts from me not 30 minutes after we had a disagreement shall we say. Do I have to work my notice, when clearly it's not hard for them to take the shifts away?
Gov’t Job wasting my time.
A job handling capacitors for a government job about 45 minutes away from where I live hired me, I had to drive 45 minutes there and back, and on the first day they turned me away because they neglected to tell me I needed my birth certificate, it’s 45 minutes away in stop and go traffic, is there anyway I could sue them in small claims court for the gas money and time getting here and back, twice ( $100 in gas + time ) I don’t care about the money, it’s about the message.
