I work for a busy restaurant and a lot of our sales are through Uber eats. When employees are taking in orders, we have the option to pause any incoming orders or mark food items unavailable/available. Tonight, the boss screamed at us saying he’s losing thousands through Uber and if we mess up by marking items unavailable that we have/pause orders he would sue us and make our lives miserable. I’m sure it’s empty threats and he’s just an AH, but what are the odds of him successfully suing an employee for lost profits? (We all work for minimum wage so not likely the employees have many assets/money to fork over).

I am not looking for insults or support I just want to tell this story. I put my notice in for my retail job because I had another job lined up and I was sick of their BS, especially a certain manager of mine because of his discriminatory rules for professionalism. I worked my second to last shift and whilst there, I created a scavenger hunt to a pile of sticky notes with the “red flags” of this manager (ex: homophobic, racist, fatphobic, hypocrite). I go in for my last shift and he meets me outside and says “you cannot work today because of what happened on your last closing shift.” I did not bat an eye and just gave him the keys I accidentally took home and moved on with my life because it doesn’t even matter.

*English is not my first language* I work at a store. My position is just classified as a “seller” on paper but I do many jobs (like cashier, warehouse stuff, management etc). I am very young and obviously, this is just a temporary summer job and by temporary I mean until I finish college (I am a senior in hs). I've been working there for 3 summers now. At the beginning of February 2022, I started working as a low-level manager in a big multinational corporation. This position is my first real job, and I was excited to begin working, earn ends meet, and learn many things. Unfortunately, my troubles began when my colleague was hired for the same position two weeks after I started working. My boss has ever since focused all efforts on mentoring and helping my colleague while slowly ignoring me and isolating me from the rest of the staff. I have an HS diploma. I then got a Bachelors and Masters in a “relevant field”. I have an ok job an ok salary and even got an ok raise a few months ago. Despite all this I am losing the battle against inflation. Some 3 years ago I had 15 000 Dollars in my bank account. I wanted so save up for a down payment. By now I am down to just 1307 Dollars. The company I work at has been changing many of it's policies over the last couple of years, some of them have been silently done, some have been communicated, most of them are not posted in the company policy site. Now we are already talking about a multi million dollar company that has no standard operating procedures in place, everything runs according to which building you are in, shift you are on, department you are in… what gets you written up under one supervisor might be encouraged by another… it's crazy. When COVID became a problem for them, they stopped telling anyone when someone got quarantined and might have come in contact with you, they then decided that they would provide everyone with a week of sick time on top of their vacation, this way a two week quarantine would only cost you 1 week of vacation and 1 week…

I worked in a small company ever since graduating college 3 years ago and never had a problem at work until the last few months. Inflation kept going up and almost none of us received raises even though we were underpaid to begin with. I wouldn’t have minded it much, but many of my coworkers left and the new hires were very subpar from crap colleges. Hey guys, so I’m in a bit of a pickle. I recently returned to a restaurant job I left to start school during covid and I’ve started back about 3 months ago as a server. When I first worked here a few years ago the place was always pretty spotless for a restaurant, managers were thorough in making sure everyone was held accountable and there were no bug problems. Each day of the week we had specific cleaning jobs to do on top of regular things. Ex. Monday we’d dust our sections, Tuesday we’d bleach and polish shelves where food is stored, etc. Fast forward to now and all of the old rules and procedures don’t seem to exist. Hi guys I know my last post may have been missing some points but I was pretty emotional at the time of posting having just worked my hardest all day just to be tricked and given 6.66 an Hour when I expected at least 10$. A couple points to be made -I worked 10 hours and 30 mins my first day and about nine hours and some change my second day today before quitting when it all became too much. -No I’m not related to anybody at the nail shop by blood. -My friend of 10 years asked me as a favor to start work within a day of being asked.
