Must be nice
Fuck Monday. Long live the weekend.
I'm serious, thank you. I don't know why you walked out just as lunch rush was peaking, but i imagine it was for any number of good reasons. Management won't even begin to get it until they get a line of pissed off people who all have messed up orders. Whether it's an asshole manager, too little pay, unsafe working conditions, or anything else, really – you should be proud to stand up for yourselves. And to the guy who took off his arm sling to try and work faster – you don't owe me shit, and you owe BK even less. Don't sacrifice your health for 12 an hour. Or for 20, or for anything. I hope you're able to heal quickly and get to a place financially where you can leave BK behind. And to my two kids, who got zero applesauces and only 1 toy between the…
I need some advice for leaving.
Hey there guys. I've been a long time lurker on this sub, but I'm thinking I'm one of the younger people here so I've always been a bit timid (and in general). I got a decent paying job (FOR MY AGE) a few months back. Long story short, my stepmother is visiting for the first time in like 4 years, and today we had an emergency where we have to get some things together for her arrival. I called multiple people to see if I could swap my shift, but to no avail. So I called the store, it was an emergency, a personal matter, and I couldn't come in. I was told it's either get your shift covered or come in – if not they will “move on without me”. Keep in mind this job is 12.50 paying, and I'm relatively naive. However, I asked her if she knew…
leave career or ask for raise?(canada)
I am about to give my 2 weeks notice to a company I have been working for for over 10years. I Never asked for a raise, but very slight increase due to laws were applied. Last week I let them know I may be leaving as I cannot afford to work for them any longer, I’ve had to take out bank loans just to keep my family housed. Wife and I work 2 jobs each but still just making it by. Not going to lie….it has been very stressful in my family. Good company, they were never unfair to me over the years. They came back asking if I would reconsider and wanted me to give them a number that would help my family out. I have a feeling there were others on the video chat on that day, but I was only able to see my manager. My question…
Employee Burnout and Us
In economics, simply put, external costs are costs that a company profiting from selling goods or services forces others to pay. An example would be dumping toxic waste into a river rather than paying a fee to have it safely disposed of. In the above case, everyone pays. Society pays. One external cost I have not heard people talk about is employee burnout. When corporations like Walmart or Amazon are allowed to butcher their way through the workforce and leave people broken, tired, and often mentally ill, we all pay. For realistic change, I support a law that requires severance, especially when people quit. Also, taxing companies based on their turnover rate would be better for society too.
