I see this everywhere, including this sub, where people say “my boss this” and “my boss that”. Fellas, they are not your bosses. They are the company owner, or the department manager, or the CEO, or whatever the fuck. But they are NOT your boss. You don't belong to them. You're your own person. “Boss” comes from the Dutch word “baas” which translates to “master”. Do not undermine yourself by saying that some random fucker is your master. This is another one of the classic mental conditioning that's hammered into our brains since childhood. So the lesson here is, you don't have a boss. The company has a boss, but not you. You just work there to get paid, and that's it. So cut the Sir and Mr bullshit, they aren't higher beings. And they're definitely NOT YOUR BOSS. Have a good day.

I have never had a job. I'm severely mentally ill. I cannot verbally communicate. I am supported by my parents. On top of that I am an illegal immigrant and was brought to this country at a very young age. My birth country is a very poor third world country where mentally ill people are either left to die or are tied up with chains. I am really worried about my future. When my parents get old and can no longer support me, what am I going to do? I am simply not capable of working and I live in constant fear of deportation. This isn't fair. I shouldn't have to work.

I'd love to walk into my office, put my coat on the back of my chair, make myself a cup of tea, turn on my computer, open up my emails, arrange a load of meetings & then just go home and never return. Leave then totally hanging and always wondering what happened to me. 🤣

Hello, everyone! I recently interviewed for a position titled Machine Learning Data Annotation. During the interview, I was told that the position is offered as a contract job. I was also told that the pay rate is $24/hr, but that it would “look more like $20/hr after taxes.” Apparently the $20/hr would be direct deposited to me each week. This is what I found about contract jobs with a quick Google search: “On a contract job, an employee works for a staffing firm on a W-2 basis under the direction of the client company for a predetermined amount of time to work on specific projects. The staffing agency pays the contract worker and takes out their taxes” The source of my confusion is why I wouldn't simply be paid $24/hr, and then see the taxes be removed each paycheck? I've had my dog for about 13 years, a bit over half my life. Recently her health has been rapidly declining to the point where her kidneys are failing and she is unable to walk. My family has decided that it has come time for her to pass on. I have a shift later today around the time she is being taken to the vet. I called in asking if I could perhaps take the day off considering the situation. I've been told it's not possible and was “kindly” given an hour leeway after my shift begins to come in. I immediately started crying. It seems so unfair 🙁

After being hired my younger brother has been put on the schedule once for five hours in four weeks, in which they had him do next too nothing. While his friend who got hired around the same time is working there regularly. I was pretty proud of him because I have a ton of personal issues that would make it difficult too hold any sort of job, but seeing him so frustrated now is just infuriating. Then my recently adopted sister put in her two weeks after not getting paid on time, her coworkers being paid through Venmo, the owner buying alcohol for minors, and a coworker selling drugs to minors. Like what the hell? Do they think being the only Boba place in town makes them invincible? Like I swear too god my family is cursed to have bad work experiences, but knowing how many people are on this…
