Not sure if this is the correct subreddit for this, but I needed to rant a little bit. So about a month ago I was let go from my last job. I was told to give my store manager the key and my badge and head home. I complied and was totally agreeable and cooperative. A few days later I contacted the store manager about coming in and picking up my personal belongings from my work locker. She said she would consult her boss the area manager and get back to me. She then proceeded to ask for my address and told me they’d mail me my stuff. (This was June 9th) I was somewhat frustrated, but I gave her my address and continued with my life. So I work in a small bakery with 4 employees all together and the two owners work here as well. One of my co workers recently requested a day off and they denied her. Later on they approved it. In September I want to get two weekends off for a family trip and a concert. I’m nervous to ask for it off because they have a reputation to deny days off. Today they told another co worker that it’s hard to replace people on weekends. Which would be the problem. I’ve worked for a little over a year and have only taken a day off plus 2 weeks for COVID. What should I do if they deny it

I used to work for this food establishment for about 8months. My first month working my boss said I'd be fit for a promotion, it wasn't until 4 months later of me repeatedly asking for the promotion that I finally got it. $1/hr raise. So now I'm working for a couple more months and before I was getting like 35~40 hour work weeks, now I'm getting luck if I have 30 hours, usually getting 25. As you can guess, making roughly $600-$700 every 2 weeks is not cutting it. This alone is reason enough to quit; however, it isnt until my manager and a shift lead come up to me during one of my shifts, I clock in and they both flip my titties. The best thing about not working is the freedom to do what you want, when you want. No more bosses, no more deadlines, no more stress! Life is too short to spend it working, so why not take advantage of every moment and live it to the fullest? Sorry just needed to vent. It's so nice getting out of that hell hole.

Been working in America for over a decade. I moved from the lowest of jobs to a good six figure number. One thing is consistent across, bad employee appreciation. This sometimes comes with many jobs demanding too much from their employees. You work at a company for a certain number of years and in many cases all you will get is a pin, a card or a thank you email. When people do great things at work, still they get a card or a mention on the board. When Christmas time comes, once again you get a card and a happy holidays. I have worked in many other countries, where you get all the above together with other things like a good holiday bonus check, a day/s off for a great work done. Etc May be I am the one who just doesn't get it?

I work(ed) in a souvenir shop as an “intern” and i was fired today because i asked if i was going to be paid what was promised to me. so just for context when i interviewed for this position i was told they were going to pay me 16/hour. it wasn’t until i was told by another intern that i was actually getting paid 15/hr that the situation was addressed. this is weeks after the interview and it was on the first couple of days working that i found that out. so not only did they lie to me they also didn’t bring it up with me, i was the one that had to bring it up. we talked and they said that they would pay me 15/hr while i train on running one of the stores by myself. this was approximately 3-4 weeks ago. two weeks ago they said…
