This might not make complete coherent sense (as this is second hand information), but here goes. I have a friend who originally was hired to be a receptionist for some language interpretation place. Of course, there's this part in his job description that said certain tasks have to be done, which at the time I didn't think it was that weird when he told me originally. Anyways, back in April my friend started asking me all these weird ass tech and IT related questions like buying an enclosure for a SSD or how to use xcopy and cmd/powershell to copy stuff over from a hard drive to an external. I asked him for the details as I didn't even think he knew half the words he was using because he's not IT, never had the training and it turns he's been performing IT tasks for a very long ass time…

I have worked as an RN for five years and the job has deteriorated my mental/physical health to point where I couldn’t take it anymore. I was having suicidal thoughts, elevated blood pressure, panic attacks. Was it really worth it? The answer is no. I have realized healthcare is not the business of “saving lives” rather it’s a greedy business of keeping money in the executive’s pockets. My family, friends, ect have judged me, named called me, the list goes on. I’m still trying to figure out my next steps. As well, I have money saved to last me a year, have never begged anyone for money or taken any government assistance. I have realized my job doesn’t define me and my life shouldn’t depend on it. I will never hold a job as an “idol” in my life. Rant over. Thanks for listening ️

This unbelievably shit take manages to ignore so many important factors: The number of people who fall below that median of $75k, the fact that he's looking at household vs single income, the fact that two years ago gas was almost half what it is now – so what about that huge impact on people my dude, and that if he removed the efficiency of modern cars from the equation his whole ~~~Everything Is Great~~~ argument collapses. A minimum wage employee works 40 minutes to pay for a gallon of gas today. The min wage in 1962 was $1.15. Today I had a panic attack that lasted the whole day. Minor seizures there and there. Shortage of breathing and body shakes. Then to top things off my boss calls at 7pm during my relaxation time just to ask me to log into my computer and send him a CSD report. First thought was like mmmmm it will take just 3 seconds. Second thoughts where like nope why are you panicking all of a sudden. This man has cause fear,depression and trauma in my life.

I am not an employer. I am posting this to anti work because this Reddit convinced me I was worth more, and got me to get a job with a company I love that pays me what I am worth. So here is my issue, for a job that is basically data entry people are expected to do 10 an hour. (This is a very reasonable number, and I've trained people who hit this number easy after 1 week.) We are currently work from home. Some people on our team their production has sank till they are only doing 2 per day. Much of this is due to work life balance issues (ie distracted by kids, helping their birds run a business or of their house, etc). So I ask you Antiwork, how do I fix this? I'm working in a business for about a month now and i get paid minimum wage, other workers get twice the amount or more that i make in the same hours, i currently work in another branch and he says the reason i get paid so little is because he pays me from the money that THIS branch makes so if i don't make enough money then i can't be paid alot, sometimes he says things like “you aren't making enough money here how am i suppose to give u your salary tomorrow?” Edit: also i work 9 to 10 hours 6 days a week and i don't get saturdays off

I’ve worked at this retail job for almost 3 years and I’m the only original person from when I started that’s still here. The turnover rate for managers and cashiers is disgusting. I’ve been promoted up twice, being right under the store manager’s position. I hate it. I am a customer service manager there now and we only have 4 management spots available. I’ve been emotionally and verbally abused since I started here by 2 different store managers. They have used me to fill every call out shift possible aswell and I’m at my wits end. As a result of the turnover we have I have been forced to work alone for hours on the register, close the store alone at night, and sometimes get no break.
