Mark Cuban Pharmacy

I'm sharing this here because it's a nice little f big pharma so I think you guys will like it and we're a big community and I want this to get around: I haven't heard anyone talking about this, I haven't seen any news articles or stories about it and this makes me big time smile. Mark Cuban has a pharmaceutical company where instead of marking up pills 1000% like big pharma does he only does the standard retail markup of 15%. I want to spread this news around, we give so much attention to Elon and bezos who dont do shit for people and Cubans over here getting no attention and selling metformin for $3 to people who can't afford meds. I didn't see insulin on the site but I'm not educated enough on the topic to know why he wouldn't have it. The website is called costplusdrugs.com

Serious question: Rather than work for the ‘man’, why not start your own business?

This is a genuine question. So many here work under shitty conditions for what they consider a fraction of their real value. Given this, why don't more people work for themselves? You have much more control over your work conditions. You can capture every dime of value you create. Post ACA health insurance is no longer unobtainable for many, and you can even set up your own solo 401k and defer a whopping 25% of your income there up to like 61k. I get the main goal of this sub is to make jobs better, but realistically, the politicians are captured by the capital class. Many of you seem deeply unhappy with your jobs, and I'm just trying to ask a constructive question that one can do within the capitalist system we have today as opposed to waiting for a progressive shift in labor rights that may never come. Is it okay to reach out to a colleague who is allegedly out of office due to a discplinary action?

I (28F) have a senior colleague (42M) who has been out of office for weeks now. I consider him as a friend and a good mentor who has taught me a lot and supported me in my career in the past. He would also check in on me before when he saw me struggling in the past. I reached out to him a few weeks ago to check why he has been out of office for an extended period of time and he just answered me with a general response that he's sorting some things out. It's been a few weeks and I heard some rumors about him being out of office due to a complaint filed against him. Would it be okay to message again and ask if he's okay and would need any support? I'm just worried that he feels depressed about all this and would like to…

supervisor said i wont get paid unless i have an offer letter….

I'm 18 years old, and I secured a job last month. The company informed me that I was hired via email…I signed an NDA and Code of Ethics, but it has been 5 weeks without receiving my offer letter despite my multiple reminders. Pay day was June 30th, and my supervisors are saying that I cannot get paid unless I have an offer letter….yet still, whoever has the responsibility of doing the offer letters are “busy”. I need my money.. I didnt come here to do charity work and i'm pissed. I dont know what to do. Can i refuse to return to work until they provide me with the offer letter and date of payment??

WFH “kills culture”

I know I should just stop hate-reading inc.com, but I can't help myself. How should I approach telling my CEO (who definitely reads this kind of shit) that the “loss of culture” he's been talking about is really just mourning the loss of control over people's lives? https://www.inc.com/jay-steinfeld/how-to-prevent-remote-work-from-killing-company-culture.html

Walked Out on my Co-workers

So I’ve been working at my job for about 5 months. It’s a part time warehouse job and it’s super easy, all I do is scan packages and place a sticker with the customers address on it. When I first started, I thought that this was perfect because I was so used to doing packing, heavy lifting, or operating forklifts. So one my first day, my boss tells me about a co worker that is basically a bully to everyone. She made this one girl cry, she’s even gotten into arguments with the boss and lots of other coworkers. I didn’t understand why she wouldn’t just fire her because the co worker creates a hostile environment. My boss says she can’t fire her because of the union. But I don’t think bullying is protected by the union, but I digress. Anyways, I didn’t think much of it because I’m an…
