I’ve updated my skills many times over, but it’s all consuming trying to keep pace with the inundation of tech options.

Our lifestyle and belief system revolves around Big Tech. We must continue to ritualistically update our knowledge to understand its ways. If we are in it’s good graces we might benefit from its mysteries.

Unfair pay between my coworkers and I

I’ll keep it vague in case my coworkers are on Reddit. I’m on phone so sorry for any mistakes or if it doesn’t make sense in general. I had went part time last year so I was transferred to an office that didn’t require me there full time. One of the employees in my old department quit suddenly. They had asked me to go back to her dept to help out my other coworker (he’s the one that replaced me originally) until they found someone for full time. We were able to find someone thankfully. Somehow my coworker found out about the new girl’s pay rate. He vented to me about it and shared his pay rate. I didn’t share my rate because I didn’t want him to know that I made more than both of them. I’m basically “out the door” mentally because after this I’m quitting. I feel…

I get the impression we’ve learned to live with hostility as our ambitions are sidelined in favor of large corporations.

But you can always work at the local big box store if you’re in a pinch.

Billion dollar company has the choice to hire long-term freelancers or fire all of them. Guess what they choose?

Several years ago I worked for a major company as a “perma-lancer”. For anyone unfamiliar, this means you are a freelancer or contractor who works full-time hours over several years. Typically you work through a temp agency who takes a big chunk of your pay and provides the bare minimum of benefits. You do all of the work, if not more, of an actual full-time payroll employee, but without the fair pay or great benefits. This is not entirely legal where I live, but the laws leave so many grey areas and these companies are so powerful they get away with it. I stuck around at this job for several years because my boss was a good mentor who taught me a lot and I liked my coworkers. But eventually once I learned all I could there, and it was clear I would not be given the company job I…

Hotel cleaning fees

Ok Im probably the last person on earth to realize this, but did you know housekeepers don’t get “cleaning fees” that’s charged at hotels? Im making 11.75 an hour and I’ve cleaned at least 20 rooms that got charged a $100 cleaning fee, I’ve never seen a penny of it. It takes about 4 people to clean a room so I feel like I should at least get 20? So that way the owner gets a cut too. Most of the rooms that get the cleaning charged only take maybe 25 minutes of extra work so it’s not like we’d be shorting the owners. There’s been a large group taking up about 10 rooms and they will all be charged a cleaning fee, I’ll clean them and not see a penny of it.

I had this feeling that baby boomers had no idea what the current job market was like when I graduated college. I was correct.

Huge generational confusion.

A practical general strike

In all manner of speaking, American’s cannot immediately do a general strike. We are overworked, underpaid, short of staff and we have no support system. It doesn’t matter your education level, work ethic, or line of business. Which means we can have a greater impact if only a few key people just step back and stop. Planes can’t fly without ATC, docks stop running without crane operators, trains cant roll without engineers, and products stop flowing when we lose forklift operators. If we know what to target, a small change can cripple everything. It’s easier to convince a small amount of people to step back if they know they have complete support. What positions would a minor loss have major consequences? Losing sanitation would cripple water. What else does that, and who else can we help?

I live in Texas and most early childhood jobs are paying $9 an hour or under

I don’t need those jobs, I’m in a better situation thankfully However when I was trying to find work, I ran into so many day care positions paying fucking $8.75 or something. These daycares have tens of families paying 4 figures a month for childcare and they pay $9 to manage toddlers all day. I don’t get it at all. It’s so hard to work with kids that age, especially in large groups. They deserve at least $25. McDonald’s is paying $11 here ffs. That’s so low and they are still lower
