My girlfriend got a job with a local call center from looking on indeed and has been there about 3 months. The job was listed as a WFH position but it included a month of training on site before you become WFH. My girlfriend got the job, picked her schedule as she was asked to do from a list of available schedules. 2 months after training ends they’re trying everything they can to make her (and everyone else) come work from the office even though she has followed all their instructions. Apparently the schedule they hired her for is a problem now so she has the option of quitting or missing her agreed to day off and losing hours. It’s just bullshit and I wanted to rant. My phone is lagging typing this so if you have any questions I’ll answer in the comments.
Boss lied in disciplinary write-up
Recent change in upper management. I suspect new management was on my direct supervisor for missing a deadline on a part. I built the part in my normal time frame. A few days later I get called to the office and written up for taking too long. The problem is that a lot of the substantiating evidence he cited was extremely misrepresented or outright fabricated. This would never had happened with old managment, and I suspect he used new management's naivety to blame me for his mismanagement. Union won't help, they say it's not a grievance issue. I don't know what to do, I have to work for this person and I don't want to face retaliation. Any suggestions about what I should do? I hate having false accusations in my personal file. I have accepted a transfer to another supervisor's department, but I haven't been moved yet.
So to start this off, I’ve only been at the current place for about a month so far, and have had no issues with anyone except this boss (I have 3 total). Today I was called into the office upstairs for what they called a 1 to 1, said boss had asked a supervisor if they would talk to me about my habits of crossing my arms and leaning against the door while I’m on shift, I work as a front of house team member in an opticians and I work 10 hour shifts with maybe 2 or 3 opportunities to sit down. I always try to make myself seem welcoming and always try to smile and sound upbeat when talking to customers, I just have a habit of crossing my arms during downtime when there is no customers waiting and we are just stood there. Now I can see…
Literally as the title states; it’s a bit insulting when you put time and effort into applying somewhere, and they couldn’t even be bothered to follow up with you afterward. Like, seriously… at least tell me whether my application would be moved forward to an interview or if it was rejected! Does this happen to anyone else?
The more I looked into the company, alarm bells started ringing. The school itself is gimmicky, (they allow students to take their exams in Tesla's) their prices are OUTRAGEOUS, and their reviews on their fb, Google, and yelp are mostly negative. More than one state that the majority of instructors are no shows with their students. Im still taking the interview to please my parents but am I wrong to assume if I do get the job it could be toxic? I just feel off about everything.
This happened in 2017, the before times! I was working for a large bank in Scotland, it was a terrible call centre job, but it paid decent. It was soul destroying so i went part time. When i was part time it got really bad – i would man a line by myself for hours every day with 100+ calls waiting until my colleagues arrived. But the the holiday bookings were the worst. I went on a big trip one year which i got approved two month in advance. Next year i decided to do the same and was told no, you can book two weeks out only. They would routinely get a request for a week and let you take the first day and the last but not the whole thing. I was understandably annoyed at this as the big trip i booked was several thousand dollars in flight…
Today at our morning meeting we were told “.. Not to eat healthy foods, but just stay away from deep fried foods, greasy fatty food, because it makes you more sluggish” This isn't the first time we've been told some wild out of pocket shit. Last time it was kitchen safety, because someone burned themselves while cooking. The idea is that we aren't human beings, rather property of our employers living as breathing production machines. Makes me sick… But I had a margarita on my way here so what do I care
