Never thought I'd be posting here… Anyway I am 21 and make about $1800 month take home salary working 40 hours a week. I really like my job, I work in a kitchen my mangers are exceptional people and my co workers have become the best friends I've ever had. I wish I could have this job forever but when I'm older and want to move out of my parents house I'm never gonna be able to afford to live and it's really depressing to think about. Even if I do get more raises and bonuses In the future I won't make enough to live comfortably. I feel so lucky and unlucky at the same time it really sucks.
Duo is on our side!
Which one is better for leaving a crappy factory/warehouse job?
“Auto” deducted lunches
Employer recently started automatically deducting lunches from employees. What I did not realize until now was that when I clock out for anything less than a 30 minute lunch I am still deducted the full 30 minutes. I bring a lunch to work and eat in my office. My lunches are often interrupted with phone calls as I am the main party responsible for taking cc payment via phone as well as answering general phone calls when absolutely necessary. I initially used the term “stealing” to describe what this felt like to find out. The CFO accused me of parading around telling everyone the company was stealing from employees (I said this to the Branch Manager upon learning of the markings on my time card, one person) then sat me down in his office and responded to me saying I don’t know how this could not be illegal by saying…
I started working a salary paid job and realized that you aren't technically paid for anything other than being employed… Whether I work 1 hour a week or 60 you will always make the same regardless. That's why I calculate my earnings by dividing my salary after tax by 365, Technically you are working on the weekends too, and showing up for work on weekdays is just a way to not get fired.
Is it a wonder
Is it actually surprising that they are having problems finding workers? Just heard average pay went up 4.8% while inflation is over 8%. Something has to give
