And no, they don’t see you as a human being. Just, no.
TA account bc a lot of my friends lurk here and if they think they're gonna find my main, they're gonna have to work harder! Same story you read here all the time – I worked hard, stayed late, smoothed over issues between management and PT staff. Had 10+ years of experience, 3 at this institution So of course I was shit on constantly. I knew it was time to leave when they told me I was being put on a performance improvement plan the day after I told my boss that my dad was in the hospital with renal failure (and a month after an above average performance review). Got the plan, it was total horseshit. My boss had been fucking up and was trying to blame me. I refused to sign it and provided rock solid evidence that none of the details listed were accurate. My boss replied,…
As a HR person all I want to do is make sure the workplace is as fair and just as it can be, and I would like to think I'm on the side of the workers. But everyone on this sub makes it sound like HR are horrible people and live to serve their company, and honestly it's discouraged me a lot from going into this role for the rest of my life. What can I do to be different, if anything?
On the background note, I (28 F) live alone in Mexico in a city were the cartel kills people on the daily and women disappear to be found dead on the outskirts of town. Today my boss told me that it was time for me to rotate the night shift with my peers on a shift that ends around 1 am, I told him absolutely no, I didn't want to be driving around that late at night, I have nobody waiting for me at home, he said he didn't ask if I wanted it was an obligation, he sent me to hr were i was told our schedules were up to the companys needs and starting immediately next shift they didn't want me coming earlier that what I was told. Monday will be the day I'm coming present my notice. I'll update then!
I hate American Work Culture
My job basically fired me for taking a month off work. It’s very frustrating. I don’t understand why American work culture doesn’t take into account that people have families. We should be allowed to go on Vacations. We aren’t slaves. The major companies should want people to work for them. They don’t value their employees. I hate American work culture.
