I got a job offer today which had great timing after being told I wasn't going to be considered for a promotion at my current place so I let my boss know. He came in and asked why I was leaving and I gave it to him straight. The culture that head office brings is absolutely toxic and disrespectful, and I'm not there to just be a “yes man” and push through shady shit because the general manager wants to. His attempt to persuade me to stay was saying how he could every one in the office raises (then do it, like it's been promised SEVERAL times for the more senior staff), and how when he started he only intended to be there a few months so he didn't bother trying to learn anything (which is why the previous office manager hated him). Why do so many companies expect me to just be able to take PTO to come visit for an onsite interview. Some companies will reimburse you for the travel expenses but I had one company that wanted me to travel across the country for an onsite interview with no reimbursement unless I accepted an offer. The plane ticket alone was almost $1k! Not even mentioning needing a rental car or a hotel. I do understand wanting to get a feel for the workplace before accepting anything but the expectation that you can just take PTO on short notice for an onsite interview which could MAYBE result in an offer is insane.

I earn one pound above minimum wage, the business owner drive's a newer car and I can't afford a car or car driving lessons. The business owner also lives' in a de-attached house that is owned. The de-attached house is one of the big house's in Glasgow, and I looked at the house data and how much the house possibly costed. I saw the house in google maps, the house has too garage's and possibly 4 or 5 bedrooms. I work as a retail assistant, and I'm renting a one bedroom flat and I don't have enough for retirement.

I had to take over the duties of some girl who left the company a month ago because I have previous experience even though that was /literally/ the reason why I quit my previous job because I hated doing it. I work in R&D and this work is for QA but it still got tossed over to me. I've been boycotting. I have been putting in the barest of bare minimum effort so they realize I suck and give it to someone else to do. Instead I'm just pretending to be busy when I'm not doing my usual R&D assignments. I could care less anymore.

Can my employer cut me from my wage ($17/hr) to minimum wage($7.25/hr) and then fire me? If not who do I need to contact
