I just realized how messed up this is. So I was suspended for bs reasons having to do with a shift lead throwing me under the bus to protect themselves from the supervisor. So I was given 3 day suspension. Normally, you can use vacation time to fill out hours of a week you missed. But if you are suspended you are not allowed to. The part that is wild to me is how a jobs punishment can possibly risk missing rent, insurance, any other dues that can easily have really bad consequences. And people see this as perfectly fine and normal.

So I thought I would make a different sort of topic. Employers definitely do not like it when employees discuss their wages, but basically everyone here understands that it's to people's benefit to discuss their wages. So how much do you make, what do you do, and is it really enough to pay your bills while saving money? I'll go first. I currently earn $55k/year and I provide IT support. Because I live in a low cost of living area (this seems to be changing as of late) this does allow me to pay my bills and save a bit, but not enough to make me feel comfortable about the future and retirement. Although in a few months I will get some matching of my 401k so that will definitely help.

This is in NJ for context. My bf works at a call center for a large financial institution. It’s basically customer service, but instead of helping customers of the bank, he helps the employees in physical locations troubleshoot any issues with the system they use. When he puts a caller on hold, I guess my bf wasn’t aware that the call is still being recorded on his end for quality assurance and any managers reviewing the call can still hear the things he says even if he is on hold. I am hoping for some tips. The starting pay is $16. I work in a hospital kitchen with 40ish job openings rn. The works, union, and head of the department want a raise for us but from what my department head says, HR doesnt want to give us this raise. We are around Minneapolis. I am bringing in job ads for $16 and up. My job requires a background check to get in. I also plan to break down what living on $16 looks like. Any advice please help. I am super nervous. That's all. I make minimum wage so I won't really be losing anything. My shift is literally over and I have to sit and wait. What would you do? Fyi I'm not getting paid for it. Edit: just told manager Im walking out and they couldnt stop me. Should have walked out earlier. I feel like a moron wasting 25 minutes.
