I've heard about some USPS employees not being paid this past week and some being paid in money orders. Anyone hear anything?
This is in California for legal context. I’ll try to keep a long and stupid story short. I started working at a hotel as the restaurant’s event planner at the beginning of February. It was a dream, I don’t have exact experience in that field or a degree in anything related, but I have a unique mix of transferable skills that, at the time, seemed to be exactly what they were looking for. And of course, I also came cheap for that reason – with what should have been obvious caveats like, “will need at least minimal training and oversight.” Turns out, “what they were looking for” was actually someone to do three jobs at once, and fill in wherever needed, while also building the restaurant’s event systems from the ground up. Oh, and without training or any real oversight whatsoever. For a couple bucks over minimum wage. I honestly…
Starting a new job next week :(
Quit the previous one due to a toxic manager that made my life hell. Had a week long break that just felt wonderful. Now dreading have to go back to work 🙁 Why can't we get UBI already.
Boomers vs Millenials could be a myth.
For people like me , those ages 35-45 now at 2022, we have always been in the twillight zone between boomers and millenials. Not quite boomers, not much of a millenial, but having experienced both. All I can tell the full millenials out there , is that life is gonna suck on whichever age bracket you are in. The difference is in the flavour and brand. Boomers faced a different problem then and millenials are facing a whole new set of problems now . It is what it is. Everyone is forced adapt. The sad part is that it is gonna get worse for the each generation. Trends will cycle faster thanks to technology, our kids will have to adapt faster, move faster, cram more, do more, face harsher environments, stiffer competition, fight for dwindling resources, and still receive way less than we do now. Then millenials will become the…
i’ve thinking about this lately because i’m thinking about quitting soon. and i’ve talking to co workers and friends that tell me that everyone feels the same way. burned out. feeling like quitting any day now. we work in a church as permanent staff, and we hear the same about other churches all around country. but also from mcdonald’s and carls jrs. and also from walmart and target so it’s really that bad all over the world? or are we just more fragile in our way of tolerating change and adversity? i don’t like that “suck it up and carry on” attitude my parents tell me i should have. but i know that’s what they did. and i know everyone does. so it’s been really getting worse? or is just we’re built differently? i’m more afraid i’m never gonna develop a healthy amount of tolerance to pain and frustration. but…
Short Term Disability
Hey guys, I'm currently on disability due to having reconstructive surgery on my left foot. Disability will probably end after 3 months, but I'm also aware that the doctor will give me a letter that says “patient name can go back to work on X date”. The question I have is: is ot possible for me to just photoshop tue document to extend the date further? Or should I worry about HR calling the doctor's office or finding out about this lie some sort of other way? Edit: meant to say I would show the photoshopped document to my employer, not the STDI company. So I would stop receiving income, I'm just thinking about doing this to have some more free time.
can i collect pay from my health leave?
I attempted suicide and was given a month off of work all of the month of May, during this I called benefits and asked to use my mental health benefits to get money while off work. During my 6 month exam I was given the option to take money out of my paycheck per week to give to me if I ever am on a leave, that's what I was requesting. They asked me a bunch of questions and said they'd send paperwork through the mail… I didn't get the paperwork until 2 weeks later, I wasn't able to get contact with someone at hospital that admitted me that could write a letter proving my admittance until a week after that, then I called benefits and was told they'd get back to me about where to send the papers. They never got back to me, I went back to work…
