Not sure if this really goes here but I figured you guys would know how my company is screwing us this time. Like the title says my companies gov contract is up at the end of Aug. Today they sent out a thing to sign saying we agree to become salaried employees. We never worked overtime before. Got paid an hourly wage for exactly 40 hours per week. Been there for like 9 years. Also we don’t really have any oversight so I’m not thinking our responsibilities won’t really increase. However they have routinely nickel and dimed us over the years. Pay is staying exactly the same. Just can’t figure out what their angle is so any info would be awesome!!
HAVE FUN WORKING SLAVES!!
Remember to clock in on time
My workplace is fine, we just get paid absolute shit for the work we do. It's a fortune 500 company, with high stock value that is always boasting about profits, so I know they can afford it. I usually get caught up in work, I am super shy, so I barely know my co-workers. Today I had my annual review, my boss told me they appreciated that I don't visit too much and focus on work. Now that I am thinking about it, I'm just so sad, I don't have the confidence to talk to my co-workers and that is encouraged in our culture. I get so lonely when I am working. I want to get together with them and say, hey, they've had some staffing issues, let's form a Union and treaten to strike if they don't compensate us better! But I'm scared they would all think I am…
FMLA know your rights
4 days in and already being threatened
I'm gonna be vague here because I don't know if any of my new co workers are on Reddit. First time posting, long time reader Long post so here goes: I started this new job Monday morning as an instructor in a certain field that I am proficient in but new to teaching. They say it's fine, I'm a people person and they will train me. Everyday I ask the other instructors for advice and if I can add to the conversation. They have literally mixed advice (Get super hands on/ sit back and let them figure it out) I'm confused so I mix them. This morning the manager (who has literally never stood next to me to teach or see how I teach) told me that there is a lack of cohesion on MY end and I should be looking for a new job in the next couple of…
So my doctor gave me a med that I had terrible side effects with. I work at an answering service, and some of these side effects prevent me from speaking 🤠. Because of south Carolina's laws, there's a chance the place I work at could fire me bc of the fact that I've been missing quite a bit. Even though I have doctor's notes for it. So, that's fun. I missed 4 days within the first 2 weeks of working (all of which were due to the meds I just got taken off of today)
12 years and poof
Sorry this Is a long one. Need to get it off my chest. So I just got fired today. Been working for the place place 12 years. Worked my way up to a facility supervisor 6 years ago and been doing an outstanding job at it. They were also slowly expecting more and more from me and putting more responsibilities on my plate. I gave that place countless 12-17 hour days, weeks of no days off, some weekends of back to back shifts with 3 hours of sleep on a table. I was salaried, so anything over 44 hrs a week was banked to use at a different time. It started last summer when some interdepartmental bs was going on. I stood up to the CAO to defend my department and workers. Well she is a conniving vengeful bitch, and those are my nice words for her. Fast forward to…
