I started my job slinging pizzas this week. Today was my third day. In the state I’m in, a 15 minute break is required by law after 4 hours of work. But they have the audacity to look at my surprised when I asked to go on break? They said they don’t do them for 5’s, but I can time a 5 minute breather. What the fuck? But whatever, you take a lot of mini breaks to vape in the back or text, I’ll move on. But today, my training shift was from 4 to 9. It was a busy day, we still have customers at 9, but ample help. I took off my apron and said I’m leaving, and the manager looked dumbfounded. She cops an attitude and says my scheduled time isn’t a guarantee. Um. In my opinion this sub should be about reasonable change. bringing pay raises and unions to jobs that don’t have them. Demanding paid time off and health insurance from employers. It honestly just feeds the right wing people that think we are all lazy communists.

I think people don’t run for office to be public servants anymore but rather it’s just become a way to enrich yourself. Do senators or representatives get charged criminally when they are obviously insider trading? No? Why is this allowed for these policy makers? Maybe I’m dumb but ffs I don’t get it.

On a regular day I work 6 hours. On a mandatory overtime day, I work 10 hours. I am effectively working as much as a full time person even though I am part time. The actual full timers are also being issued mandatory overtime as well, and they're working 12 hour shifts every other day. I cant report this place because its technically not illegal. But everyone is beyond pissed and almost everyone, myself included, is looking for other jobs to get away from this place.

I feel so stuck with what to do. Politicians will do nothing, charities will do nothing, NOTHING will change until the system starts crumbling from within- aka us. Like genuinely I feel like the only option is for everyone to literally refuse to work bringing the economy to a halt and giving politicians no other option other than working together to make change for this issue. American politics is so fucking partisan I can’t take it anymore. Reading Twitter today was embarrassing, everyone trying to use a tragedy for their own gain. I don’t know what to do
