Cut off points for payroll

I’m in the uk for context I just started a new job and I expected to get paid yesterday for the months work I have done . Turns out because of the date I started (25 April) I don’t get paid for any of the work I’ve done for May, until the end of June. so I basically am working two months before I get paid due to a cut off point in the payroll system. I’ve literally never head of anything like this before and also any overtime I work for June I won’t get paid till end of august . It’s so shit as I have no pay for my bills in June and I didn’t even realise this would happen. I’m so sick of the feeling like the world is constantly screwing me

How are people all out doing stuff at 9am on a random Monday? Is there some money tree that I haven’t found that everyone else has?

I work a regular 9-5 job so that I can support myself financially. Nothing special. I just have trouble grasping how and why so many people are just out doing random things on a Monday morning. I went to the grocery store today (Monday) because I had taken the day off for something else, and what do you know, the store is packed like a can of sardines. At 9 in the morning. Parking lot totally full, traffic crazy as usual on the way there. I mean, wtf? Am I the minority because I work? Even the parking spots at my apartment complex is full. Don't get me wrong, i'd really love to not have to work. It just feels like everyone else has stumbled across some secret that i'm not aware of to just not have to worry about money. What is the deal? More importantly, how can I…

Australians who know about fair work laws pls help

My bosses have ignored my request to meet twice. They have been underpaying me since I started work there and I have brought it up with them. They have agreed to back pay me but have come back with a figure I believe to be incorrect. I have sent multiple emails over a month. What should I do?

Burnout.

I (21M) have been working since I graduated high school, my first job at a large cell phone carrier retail store. The pay was commission and I performed particularly well, so I was making anywhere from $2.5K-$4K a month depending on traffic and whatnot. Within a year of working this job the company took notice, checked out my resume and saw I had three years of IT experience from trade school. I get an internal email from HR asking if I want to work a remote IT position. I love working with computers, and I'm somewhat of a gaming nerd, so of course I took the job. The pay wasn't very great at first, comparable to an average month working in the phone store, but it was a remote position so I was open to the idea. I transfer departments, the company provides me with a work laptop and phone,…

Watching a corporation flail

I work in real estate. For a large company that’s within the top five of luxury real estate. We acquired or licensed or some corporate mumbo-jumbo w a major name in luxury real estate. We are hemorrhaging staff. If this company were a body picture a knife wound in the gut and the knife has been removed. They’ve been told numerous times via exit interviews what the problem is … inadequate wages. The most recent one to quit they offered her a nonsense title w no pay increase but increased responsibility and the potential to move up once another position options up. Current positions all held by mid thirties and early forties people, she’d been promised this same job earlier. It never materialized but the workload increased. She’s now leaving to work for the wife of a high ranking staff member because of better pay and opportunities. Rather than match…
