Anyone else have a boss that is constantly talking about how little they are making? I feel like I'm expected to carry the weight of these money issues or like he wants me to basically work for free. I don't feel like these things should be being discussed all the time, especially with your min. wage employee. I understand that times are hard for everyone, but having to work with the constant feeling (which is often spoken out loud) that my boss is trying to figure out how to pay me as little as possible just sucks. It's important to feel valued as an employee, and its sort of a catch 22, because you obviously aren't gonna want to pay people for not being great at their job, but people just aren't gonna be great at their job when they feel so weird about it. I applied for an open…

“Wellness Breaks”
As seen on a recent job posting…. “The use of wellness breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.” Oh, how gracious of you. When I read wellness activities I thought maybe 30 for a walk and 30 to eat. Who am I kidding?
Hello, AntiWork. I've currently come across an unfortunate situation regarding a job I applied for. I came from South Carolina to Florida recently to move in with a buddy of mine and I applied to the same place he was working at. After the interview process went through, I was accepted and brought in to work for the company. After getting my Schedule and being told when I started, I get a call from HR to continue filling in my information. When it came to the ID portion of the paperwork, it came to light that the identification I had available was a passport. No State ID and no Driver's License. Due to this, they couldn't take me in until I got my ID. I asked what I had to do to get my ID and I was told to go make an appointment at the DMV. This went south…
How am I supposed to deal with this?
It has been 6 months since I lost my job as a cashier at a gas station. Since then, I keep having nightmares about working and dealing with the shit that the job entails. The only places around me that I could possibly do are cashier jobs, and I can't bring myself to apply. I start having nervous breakdowns just heading there, and it's difficult just going into a c-store.
Please the excuse the old OF account. Started working at an indie counter service place, tips are pooled and split evenly among FOH/BOH by hours- fine. Apparently the GM and Kitchen Manager are taking an equal share of the tip pool- not fine. I spoke to the GM in person, and told her to her face I don’t think it’s legal. She just said, “that’s how we do payroll.” So I reported to the WHD the next day, waiting to hear back if they meet the enterprise threshold to be investigated. Anyone have experience making a similar report?
XL post. Sorry in advance for the mobile formatting. Can my workplace force me to come back into the office before I’ve healed? I fell down the stairs at work and broke my right kneecap on May 15. As a result, I have to wear a long leg brace (from ankle to upper thigh) that is locked in a straight position for 8+ weeks. I also have to use crutches to get around. My ortho specialist said I cannot drive with the brace on (for obvious reasons) and to keep from being a surgical case, I need to rest, keep my leg elevated, keep weight off of it as much as possible and try to bend my knee only a few times before bed to keep the muscles from atrophying too much. No one is happy about this, myself included, but I’m following doctor’s orders. I’m lucky my injuries were…
i just graduated from a very good and expensive university with a philosophy degree, but i’m currently working about 25-30 hours a week delivering grubhub orders. i actually love the job though. i just get to drive around by myself and i make really good money for the amount of work i do (or the lack thereof). people tip really well in my area and i love not having a boss. i also have chronic health issues and it’s nice not having to actually call in and hinder other peoples lives if i need to take the day off. but: my parents keep sending me jobs to apply for. i’ve gotten a few interviews but i keep cancelling them because i simply don’t want a different job. but i feel like i should have more ambition. i feel stupid for not wanting a different job if it’d pay me more…
I have a 9-5 job that takes at least 10 hours of my day. It mostly involves using excel and ppt (which I hate) so I procrastinate anyway. I also have a side hustle which is doing very well. I am currently not earning from it, but if I keep at it for 1 year, i'll be able to make decent money. The thing is I need to give it more time so that it grows, which my demanding 9-5 job is not allowing me to. So, my main constraint is time. How do I divide the time between my side hustle and my corporate job? I am already doing the bare minimum at work and floating through the system. I am afraid I might get a bad rating which would effect my career progression. Should I just go ahead and pray that they don't fire me within this one…
Messed up my monthly pay
I was being interviewed for a job in n the procurement. Director of the department asks how much i want to be paid. I asked way lower than I should and after some months I realised that I am seriously underpaid among others in the office. The stress is to much to bear and the overtimes are happening every single day, plus that I don't have any free time at all. What could I possibly do without losing my job since it is a well-know civil engineering company? Is there any way I can settle down after 7 months in this position? Infos: I have studied Business Administration and i previously had very little experience.
