I am right to be upset, extremely disrespected, my boss is not coming to my one-on-one meeting? This is a meeting that each team member has with the boss every two weeks at the boss's instruction as it is passed down from his boss. So my boss (a manager) has me schedule a meeting with him but then does not even show up. More than not show up, he usually does not even say 'sorry I can't make it'. He accepted all the meetings, they show up on his calendar, but then he does not show. Two weeks ago he sent me 'in a call…' 10 minutes after our meeting should have started. This week, 15 mins in and nothing. Not one damn word. This from a company that deals with 'health and wellness' and just stated this week a ” Thrive Teammate Resource Group (TRG)” that is a “teammate-led…
Break advice
I get a paid 30 minute break when I work a double (11 hours), but as a server, I rarely have time to sit down and take it. Yesterday I had to run to the pharmacy and get my dog emergency meds for an infection before he has surgery on Monday. I was gone for 20 minutes, had no tables when I left. When I got back, the owner told me I can’t leave the restaurant on my break anymore, because a one-top came in while I was gone. This job is just temporary until I find a new one in my field, so leaving isn’t the solution I’m looking for. Any suggestions on how to handle this? I’m in NJ if it makes a difference.
This is something I've been struggling with lately – Why should I work harder? The obvious answer is, that if you are a salaried employee in a large corporation, you shouldn't. Let's put aside the obvious point that hard work is rewarded with more work and look at it from a different angle. In my opinion, the only reason to work harder is to gain more monetary compensation for it – This can be money, vacation days, stock options, etc. (Not pizza parties for fuck sake). I am a salaried worker in an established industry in middle America – I make the same amount of money every single week no matter if I work 20 hours or 60 hours. So what other things would incentivize me to work harder? Promotions – At my company, these are time-gated based on years of experience and education level. This means that even if…

And no matter what your profession everyone just stops working it would be glourious
Desperate for people?
So, my husband’s coworker’s wife is the GM at a local hotel – she’s been practically living there as they’ve been so short handed…. So, because I’ve been unemployed, I went to get details on what’s being offered…. Most departments…. Part (housekeeping was full but temporary) and only $14 an hour. Sadly, I’m not necessarily able to make ends meet there but I’m not able to pursue opportunities in any kind of competition…. Hotels, inns or for people who may want day labor to clean AirBNBs. I’m starting to feel like the only way I’m going to be able to take care of things for my family is going to be like sex work or something….
