The most insane part was that I went above and beyond to make sure our customers were happy and the management and owners of the restaurant made it a living hell with their verbal abuse. For example: A customer who I know regularly dines in with his wife walks through the door just as i'm coming out the back. I go behind the register to get a cloth from a sanitize bucket when the customer sees me and precedes to tell about me how how hard he sees me work. The restaurant was empty at the time so this conversation was able to be had completely from behind the counter. My (M26) fiance (F24) works as a staff accountant at a marketing firm that handles political (Republican) campaigns. She makes 51k a year (which she had to negotiate hard for) and an alleged 10% bonus. I told her avoid that organization like the plague, but here we are lol. She doesn't like the culture, the expected hours, being overworked and consistently understaffed, and micromanaged and nitpicked to death. One illustration of the manager, so you get a sense: The manager hopped in the ass of the lead accountant for things not being done (the lead is a single mother who consistently works 60 hours a week, doing her best, and still behind). Hello all. This is my fist post. As the title says, I have a great job – no complaints about the end client. I love them and they love me. The only problem is that I am working through a contracting company. Recently the curtain has been pulled aside to reveal how tone deaf and uncaring this contracting agency is. I have just completed my contract and the end client has requested that it be extended. I have not yet signed the extension, nor do I want to be stuck with this contracting agency for another 6 months. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what a good course of action might be at this point. The agency is trying to pressure me into signing. There was a no compete clause in the first contract (can't be employed by end client for a year after contract ends). I…

Hello, I recommend all members if the antiwork sub read this book by Cory Doctorow. If you have read it already, what did you think of it?

So like the title says, I stupidly started working for a lab at my university about 2 weeks before I received a contract to sign. About a week after signing the contract, I submitted my resignation and asked for all the hours that I worked before signing to be manually inputted so I can get paid for them. However after my resignation, my manager is saying that he is “unaware of any hours I worked before my effective date” and my emails to HR have been useless. Is there anything else I can do to get paid for my hours or is this just a lost cause? Thanks for any help!

Just realised that my payslip hours don't make sense I work 4 12 hour shifts thats 48 hours per working week right? Then why on one payslip I'm payed for 36 and on another 32? On one 40? How do in a professional manner ask what the fuck is going on
