I run a small department and one of my employee's roomate's dad died. They wanted to go home so I let them. I try to be understanding, is it normal to let people off when non-family members die? How long is an appropriate amount of time off in y'all opinions? Thank you all, just new to being a boss and want to meet expectations while also being human.
We have a minimum wage here so any job that you can get will pay that. Now looking around there are jobs that want numerous skills and driving all over the place and expect you to be happy to work for minimum wages. They are deluded.

Wages are so low that many cannot get past or even to break even (expenses vs income). How do people in this position continue to work? What are they sacrificing for? Your congress critters will never speak up on this until we make it clear they have to. Can you imagine even AOC calling for a general strike right now? I can't. But if there was popular support she and others might. We need to decide if we are OK continuing scraping by on crumbs while we overheat our planet or if we can stand the pain of stopping all work (and income) until the megalomaniacs get a clue. US General Labor Strike Summer '22?? Or maybe this whole subreddit is just a bunch of…
Managers forcing office workers back into the office seems like the best opportunity to organize white collar workplaces we've had in a VERY long time. Does anyone have access to a playbook or training to help office workers organize our colleagues?
Alright so I was given a contract job in which the contract said I would be paid a certain amount. Without saying too much, I’m 100% positive they are mistaken and agreed to pay me about four times as much as I should be getting. I’m struggling with what to do here. It’s a huge organization and they wouldn’t miss the money. They also are the ones who were negligent and put this high amount onto a legal contract. My question is – if they do end up catching their own mistake, would I be obliged to pay them back? Thanks !
