I’m down to zero dollars in my bank account. The gas pump at the station yesterday didn’t even let me get more than three gallons of gas, and I live in my car.
So I got my schedule for work today. I noticed that two of the shifts or eight hours apart. To give you some background, I work in healthcare in a very busy and physically intensive field. This would mean that by the time I get home, eat and shower I would only have about four hours to sleep before heading back to work. I literally told my boss “So wait, you want me to work with 8 hours between each shift to eat and sleep?” They literally said “Yes” I’m really starting to hate the workforce I put my foot down and told him absolutely not… What’s the worst they’re going to do? Fire me during a worker shortage?
Was phoned up out of the blue by a restaurant owner (must have gotten my details from a recruitment agency?) Saying they had a position that I would be perfect for as head chef. Now I'm not in the market for a new job right now so I politely turned them down. When they pushed me for reasons why I wasn't interested I told them “the pay is too low and the hours are too long” Suddenly the tone took a complete 180 and I found myself listening to a tirade of “when I was a chef working in London we did 120 hour weeks!” And “you need to man up!” I don't know how effective they thought that would be but surprisingly I still wasn't convinced!
A life of toil
I don’t condone this but I condone this
Is my boss being an asshole?
My boss asked me about a contest and their responses came off a little snarky to me. Am I reading too much into them? https://preview.redd.it/xk7rmcf780691.jpg?width=740&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08e2a9fc4f8440b1fb53821086ef29848b38d9a5
