Hi all, I just put in my notice that ill be leaving in July next month. I planned on using the rest of my vacation time and my personal holiday time in between then to move into my new apartment and to go see my girlfriend. But now my work is telling me that since I accrue the hours throughout the year, that I’ve used more than what I’ll have accrued until July. They say I’m actually in the hole for 19 hours of vacation since I’m not staying on until the end of the year. Is this legal? I feel like it’s at the very least wrong because I can take all the hours at the very beginning of the year.
I will be watching Netflix, studying for a notary public exam and taking lots of walks
Employer overpaid me?
My employer was apparently over paying me for the past year. They where paying me my OT rate as my regular rate and not paying me overtime. I had a meeting with HR and they told me this and now their holding me responsible to payback the amount they overpiad me over the past year. I feel this was a mistake on their part and they should have to eat that. Are they legally allowed to make me pay back the money? And If I leave this job will I still be held responsible? Any feedback would be great as they’re deducting money from my check every week now which is making it very difficult for me to survive on what little amount I was already making
Hi, everyone! This is my first post in this subreddit 🙂 I'm very anti-work in theory but, as I'm sure a lot of you know, it's kind of the expectation for people to hustle especially when they're young and fresh out of college, and I'm honestly fine with doing that to an extent but I've been dealing with a really toxic work environment that I just want out of… So, I'm a 23 year old female who graduated college in May 2021 and I have been working for an agency since this past July. I'm a recruiter and I knew before I even started in this field that I wouldn't fall in love with it and want to be a recruiter for the rest of my life, but I pretty much decided to just take what I could get since I had and still have no clue what I really…
I work at a restaurant that is designed around sharing dishes. It's a popular spot for corporate events and meetings. Mind you, I was training someone this one lunch shift and it was fairly busy. This woman called about her 12 person reservation the next day. It was clearly an important event and she wanted to impress people. Rather than make her wait on the phone or call back, I took some time out to go over the menu and how it works. I suggested specific dishes and I informed her that we do these kinds of groups all the time. I even suggested that she let her server handle the selection and portioning of the dishes so her guests can just enjoy each other's company, which is another thing we frequently do. What could have honestly been a 2 minute conversation turned into a little over 10 minutes. I…
A little backstory, I was hired as a social media marketer (Remember this – this is important) by a small local family run business. I was pretty much hired on the spot and I accepted. All started well, I was in an office by myself for 8 hours a day (Again, important). The first sign of issues was on my very first day, I was greeted by the sister of the owner of the company (my boss), she was lovely and showed me around and showed me what my job would be. The first red flag then popped up, I was not going to be doing any social media but instead e-commerce, focusing on photographing, writing listings, pricing and keeping track of stock for their eBay store as well as being customer service. I didn't actually mind this, it was a relaxed job and I was told this part of…
My exmanager tried to steal my laptop.
At my old job I was provided with a terrible laptop, I told them I was buying a personal one and asked if I could use it at work. They said they would pay for half, but I asked if I could pay 3/4 and they pay 1/4 of the price. I got emails confirming that if I leave in one year I would need to pay that 1/4 back, but after the year the laptop is fully mine. I left 4 years after this point, on my last day of work I confirmed with the manager that my laptop was my own and they agreed. A month after I left I got multiple miss calls, I dial the number and its one of my old managers, she accused me of stealing the laptop. Said that I had 24 hours to bring it back to the office or she would…
