I've worked at this same place for three and a half years now while I went back to school. I should have left earlier but the pandemic made things a bit difficult. Plus for the past six months management has started targeting me and just making an already stressful situation just that much unbearable. What sucks is that I loved the work I did and most of the people who worked beside me. I will miss them But I just got a new job. In the same field. With better pay. At a direct competitor. Literally next door. So screw you management! I'm gone and I'll do my best to take your business with me!
Big Red Flag – job hunting rant
I was called for a job interview this morning at 8:30AM. They wanted to see me on Thursday (two days from now). I'm out if town on vacation & can't make an in-person interview. The application for this job was due the beginning of June with a proposed start date over two weeks ago. When I didn't hear back by the proposed start date, I assumed they hired someone else It's the day after a major holiday & a popular week for vacations & family visits. Why would you want to schedule last minute interviews this week?! I told them I could possibly do a phone interview, but could not guarantee I'd have signal. They haven't confirmed that yet. The only reason I'm even considering that is because my current grand boss recommended me for this position. They asked for 9 references in the application, so I'm not exactly thrilled…
I am a boss and I am fed up
I am a boss of a medium sized department in a large organisation. I try my best to look out for my team members. I allow them to WFH. I encourage them to work flexi-hours to beat rush hour traffic. I buy them lunches. I never yell at them. When giving feedback on their work, I do it in private. I got four of them promoted last year (this involved a lot of lobbying with global), and for the rest I managed to get most above-average bonuses. I encourage them to go for training courses and seminars to upskill and stay up to date with industry developments. I don't micromanage. I try to buy cakes and sweets for a team tea-break every fortnight. I praise regularly. I listen to their feedback and suggestions, and act on them when feasible. I shield them from unhappy bigger bosses further up the food…
I’m stuck in cubicle hell, and had over 15 interviews in the past 3 weeks. These dudes need to give you a follow up faster man.
Endless Cycle
I’ve been a lurker here at this sub for a long time and read a lot of stuff here that for one gives me “hope” (i guess) of knowing that I’m at least not alone. I feel like I’m just constantly living the same struggle over and over again that I cannot escape from. I used to think that it was “just me” or my own problem that I caused solely myself, but I’m starting to realize that maybe it’s not just me and maybe living an adult life in 2022 and being successful requires more dumb luck than people admit to. I don’t have a college education, I’ve always worked, always held a job, sometimes two. I have a family with 4 kids, and while we’ve never been homeless (thankfully), we probably would be without a lot of help from my parents on some of our bills. We don’t…

Remember how elon musk is always talking about the myth of overpopulation and says that contrary to popular belief, were not even close to reaching the sustainable birth rate to maintain the current population. He's right if you look at the government statistics and Roe v wade being overturned isn't just about the court attacking womens rights. It's about keeping a working class working, without a kid to take care of people tend to get richer and more educated. They no longer need to work crappy jobs to survive, and it enables them the time to obtain a higher education. Why would someone work a minimum wage job unless they needed to? Remember when the stimulus checks came then all of sudden everyone started quitting and trying to find a better job, people got a taste of what life could be like and now they're demanding more. If you force…
i work with kids. little kids, ages 2-3 and i literally cannot attend work with a fever. yes, it's shitty and inconvenient to call out shortly before your shift, but i was in an exhausted daze and had assumed i could sleep the sickness off. i called out and got actually yelled at by my supervisor, like i was some sort of stupid child and not a colleague. she said something about how i “can't keep doing this”, when the last time i needed to call out i did so several hours before my shift and no one ever informed me that i was supposed to do anything differently. she informed me i should have called her personal number the night before and told me she was going to write me up for this offense. because i didn't think it was appropriate to call her at her personal number way…
