Hey everyone, so there is a mayors conference happening in my City, Reno Nv, in 2 weeks. There is around 1,300 mayors showing up from cities all over the United States. The only requirement being that the city has more than 30,000 people. There’s a few groups organizing around this. My friends and I being pretty far to the left are trying to do our own thing. So I’m reaching out to yall in hopes of getting any information on issues happening in your cities and any information about your mayors you might want us to know. A worked for a restaurant that’s opening day was February 17,2022 and we were told our tip share was going to be 4.5% of our sales..With that being said we were also supposed to be fully staffed appropriately in every department as well. There were several shifts that we didn’t have a busser or that busser was downstairs and we never had anyone upstairs or vice Versa and yet we never could see a break down on our slips that would show us where our tip share was going..just that it was taken out..now one night in the office I happen to notice we were tipping out at 5% and when I asked about it was told it wasn’t happening when infact I seen it was. Software Development from Hell
I work as a software dev (senior) for hire. So basically I am rented out by various recruiting firms. Since I enjoyed software development in my early days I read and studied my fair share of 'exotic' ways of thinking and doing things the (most) easiest way. Seeing all these meetings and these explicit and implicit rules that suck the joy out of work, I was often slightly depressed but that changed Than I realized that my inbox was full with different job offers from other recruiters. So I started to only take contracts with 3 to 6 months initial duration. I seldom extended any contract since once an initial project is finished, everyone tends throw every hard problem at me without any pay-raise or any bonus. – Of cause I will do this stupid stuff when I have the choice… HAHA! – Back in these days I actually cared…
I am the new guy at work Today I found out that I am making 1$ more an hour then some of my co-workers, we had an awkward conversation about how kosher it was to talk about wages, I simply said “its federally protected speech, for some people its considered social taboo, but I honestly dont care all that much, so I make 18$ an hour, you dont have say how much you make if you dont want to” my coworkers really opened up after this and we found out that despite working the job he gets paid less.
A while ago, one of my supervisors had told me about how the interviewing supervisors, for new hires, are always on alert, for what he referred to as a “salt”. For those of you that don't know, this is a person who attempts to join a company, with the sole purpose of convincing the employees to form or join a union. One the masquerading candidate actually represents. Basically, it's a way for the union to try and infiltrate the company. He was the only person who ever mentioned this, and I've worked 8 years at this company. As a result, I thought nothing of it. I quit a job after 2 days
It was not the right job for me, no matter how many times I did the tasks and they showed me, I just didn’t do it right. There were also other things wrong like they rostered me for Friday, even though I said twice in both the interview on a form that I can’t, as well as when I got the job, on the application form that I can’t. HR told me to wear black business pants and black non slip shoes, which I got. Then when I got to work they said no that’s not right I have to wear blue pants and not sneaker looking shoes.. don’t get any breaks at all, not even to sit down and eat, even though it’s a tiring job.. then one of the girls basically expected me to be perfect even though it was only my second day and she raised her…
I procrastinate… a lot. And can end up in YouTube loopholes for hours. My work is a very laid back place, not many websites are blocked. However I just can’t help myself when I get stuck in these loops. Should I contact IT to see if they can block it? Or could this open a can of worms into them looking into my countless hours of YouTube use? (Theft of company time) I’m in UK btw. Thanks all.
