Landlord isn’t a job
Getting Welfare is too much work
Im antiwork as most of us here but need money for basics. But trying to get on welfare, free govt housing and food stamps is hard work! All this confusing paper work, Online Forms, phone calls being on hold for hours, sitting in govt waiting rooms forever it’s the most time consuming stressful work I’ve ever done. They need more workers staffing these agencies and an easier approval process! What more do you need to know?!?!? I’m broke, I hate work and I need food, shelter, clothes and a little pocket money. Give it to me! We need universal basic income stat!
I have a hard time feeling good at work. I'm 23 and until now, I've had alot of jobs but only 2 of them where I felt good, energised, motivated, interested. Both of them were real estate assistant position, but they both were temporary. I just obtained my degree 2 months ago and I'm waiting for my final big exam which is in 1 month (+2 months to have results), if I succeed, I'll have my permit and will be able to work as a real estate agent. but until then, Idk what to do. I have found another job a few days ago since my contract ended as a real estate assistant. And I really liked my previous job for once. My new one is temporary too, and it doesn't have anything to do with real estate. It's actually an auto body shop and I'm a receptionist. It's not…
My textbook seems biased against unions
I’m in my last semester of nursing school and we are taking a class about leadership. We’re learning about unions, the process for collective bargaining, etc. My textbook seems a little biased towards management’s side and it’s frustrating. It advised hospital nurses to consider the feelings of other healthcare professionals before deciding to unionize because non-unionized healthcare staff will receive smaller benefits packages, less vacation time and less sick days/PTO than unionized nurses. Basically, non-nurses will be jealous and it will cause resentment. The book also said non-unionized healthcare staff may not receive annual salary increases because a nurse’s union costs the facility a lot of money. These reasons could cause strain among members of the healthcare team, harm professionalism and decrease the quality of patient care, and nurses should consider these negatives before trying to unionize First, the book specifically listed doctors and pharmacists as the non-unionized staff that…
A recent post made me want to share this oldie-but-goodie I'd found here years ago. The TLDR is that when you spend yourself into debt and over-consumption, you waste your life. And we're worth more than that. Hope you enjoy, because it changed my life for the better by helping me make the turn away from normal consumerism. Tracked a UPS package and got a pop-up asking me to do a survey. It was just one question, on a scale of 1-10 would I recommend. I gave them like a 2 and then the pop-up asked what they could do to improve my experience and I said “Don't cut the pay of people making you huge profits. I don't personally know anyone who works for UPS but I've read the news.” I just wanted that caveat (which it's true, I don't know anyone) so they couldn't think I have a stake in it, other that worker solidarity. Not that they'll give a shit, really, but I said it.
I’m not sure what to do with my job
I've been working full-time as a laborer for Construction for roughly 2 years and lately I've been feeling like I'm just done. It's not great, it's hot, and I yearn to just lay down until my body stops aching. I feel like I can't stop because of the bills and such, but at the same time I want to follow my passions while I'm still young (I'm 21). I've been seeing way easier jobs pay more than my hourly so I don't know. Advice?
