Engineering Office Western Canada Booming O&G industry So I’ve been busting my ass (at least been doing better than everyone else in my department) and my performance review was today. I wholeheartedly thought I’d at least be getting a raise equal to inflation (7+%) Went into the meeting feeing great, felt awesome the whole meeting, talked about achievements (basics performance review shit) then at the end, after pay was never brought up, my manager casually says “yeah so I’m super excited for your 4% increase” … am I the asshole here?
I understand the concept of having no phones on the job, especially if it’s super busy. But there are days where it’s going to be super slow to the point where you just literally stare off into space for 20-30 minutes. However, my supervisor purposely lets other people that are in the same position as me to be on their phone just chilling waiting for it to get busy again. I, on the other hand cannot be on my phone and I get told multiple times to put it away but the guy next to me and others nearby has privileges?? This pisses me off as I can only sit there, close my eyes and just nap it off or just stare into space. I know I’m probably gonna get some comments saying “why don’t you confront to your boss about it?” Well the thing is I can come off…
So I have a job that I quite like, but it's for a notoriously bad company. Massive, multi billion dollar, worldwide company that is famous for underpaying juniors. I have 2 years experience but was hired as an entry level. With a few other juniors with 0 experience. I got into the company via its graduate training program. And since my first job was while I was at university, I was both a graduate and experienced. Now, I could live with that. I thought fine I'll just prove myself. And I thought I did… I'm a junior but I've been given work that mid-senior positions would get, and was assigned work that the supervisor wanted to do. I asked my supervisor and my lead to vouch for me to be promoted and they both agreed. Then a friend and I decided to actually have a meeting with the department manager…
I am currently a teller/customer service representative at a small local bank. I love my coworkers, its a very tight knit community at the office and they make me feel appreciated. They bought my fiancé and I tons of housewarming gifts when we bought our house, and they've continued to be kind and friendly. I live very close to my workplace, so I walk, and every time the weather is not perfect I am offered a ride home. Considering I live a thousand miles away from any family, my work “family” means a lot to me. The pay is not great. In fact, with the duties I have been assigned during my year in this position, I believe it is awful. I open every type of deposit account, I route phone calls, I answer questions, you name it and I at the very least know how to do it because…
Applied for a job, had a good conversation with recruiter. Second interview was with the hiring manager. Didnt hear back after a few days and saw the job reposted. Followed up with recruiter about any feedback from interview. Hiring manager said I was unprofessional because I wore sunglasses through the whole interview. No, I did not wear them on my face I wore them on my head and they were my prescription reading glasses. Thought this was funny.
Bitched at for being honest
Every week we get our paycheck stubs emailed to us on Wednesdays. I had noticed mine said I made $800+ over than what my check is supposed to be. I thought it was just a glitch in the email. Come today I get my pay through direct deposit & I am infact overpaid. I go tell the owner, and he starts bitching at me that I should've told him Wednesday, someone else's pay could be short. Blah, blah, blah. I told him I thought the email was wrong. He stormed away saying with an attitude he has to notify the lady who does payroll. I told my store manager & she said I should've never said anything, bcz when her brother worked with us he was overpaid once, said nothing, and no one ever noticed. I'm so glad I was honest just to get bitched at. SMFH!! At least a…
Rejected from the Job I’m Already Doing
Currently a contractor for a large biotech. Went through the gauntlet trying to help get this place FDA qualified, and they finally open up permanent positions. I apply, and my manager isnt recieving my resume – a month a later I recieve an auto reply rejection email stating while I had many of the skills needed, they're moving forward with a different candidate. Honestly I'm furious. Don't get me wrong I understand I'm just another cog but jesus christ. Ntm this wasnt even the job i was initially hired for, and i got put on the shift with the manager that likes shoving their duties onto us peons. Fuck this place. DW I already started applying elsewhere when they wanted us to apply to the permanent position
